Actually there isn't a big enough yawn to encompass the boredom I have with N. Korea's threats in the news. Wake me up when they decide to commit national suicide by actually doing something.
That's a function of the job market, not the useful(-less)-ness of the degree. In good times, the sci/eng major will get a job right out of school. The same cannot be said for this degree if the space companies are all filled up already, which is likely in good times if the school cranks out hundreds of these kids a year.
At least if I'm a Chemical Engineer, and the oil companies won't take me, I can work for the drug companies, and if not them, the chemical companies, and so on.
Nope, a PhD is not relevant to the point I am trying to make here.
What I am saying is that if 300 kids get this new Bachelor's degree, the chances that every single one of them will be a technical AND cultural fit for places like SpaceX and Bigelow are not good. So if a kid blows the interview at these places, what then?
At least with a degree in ME or EE, you can try a completely different field.
Getting a degree that is only useful at maybe 5 or 6 companies in the whole country is not something I would recommend. How is that different from majoring in Medieval Japanese Literature? There are maybe 5 or 6 universities that would hire you with that degree too, and then you are stuck with your student loans that you cannot pay.
I definitely think the core engineering, hard science, or generic business routes are the way to go for undergrad. If someone wants to specialize a bit for an MS or higher, ok then.
I see a lot of things missing there, like the "Complete Handbooks", and all the boxed sets. I know it's a challenge to scan in a boxed set with off of its maps and other stuff, but that would be something I'd like to see. I'm jonsing for some Spelljammers. It's such a shame 4e has to suck. I'd still be playing D&D if I didn't have to convert all this cool stuff to those inane 4e rules. Pathfinder is the way to go these days, IMO.
I can read them with the Kindle App, but it doesn't stick the PDF's into my main library. I keep having to dig through the file system to select the PDF to open in the app. Inconvenient.
The author mentioned a few transferable skills but she left out the most important one: People Skills. With a BS or MS, if you are an asshole, you will have a hard time finding a job but you might eventually get one. On the other hand if you are a PhD who no transferable skills like she mentioned AND you are an asshole, you will really have trouble.
My PhD is in Biomedical Engineering and I went through similar stuff with funding and skill building as the author, so I don't think it's only limited to the Biologists. I think all types of PhD students have their own unique brand of suffering, with suffering itself being the common denominator.
I find that hard to believe. Maybe it's not impossible because your game may be really good, but I've personally been feeling the Zynga oxygen cutoff for my games. It's taking a helluva lot more than one post to friends. What's your game called?
Honestly not a bad run for any show. Can't see a reason to complain.
Oh yeah, and what do you use for powering the magnetic field to contain the plasma?

Don't eat or you will die.... oh wait.
Huh, interesting. Well if the universe is going to turn into a larger version of my bedroom, I hope I at least get to keep the Interwebs.

do most of those game trailers from TFA look pretty bad?
Shove even
Not too surprising I guess, but if he puts his finger anywhere NEAR the "Reboot" button, I'll show George Lucas right up his ass.

Because I'm too lazy to find a good PDF reader for my tablet that organizes the PDF books like the Kindle Reader app does.
*Checks calendar to make sure it's not April 1st*
Still a better story than Twilight
REBOOT Man is here!!
Yes.
"What a piece of junk!"

I can do all of this on my Tivo, and I don't even have the TivoHD.
.....except in the prequel to the Matrix, it's Morpheus' retarded little brother played by Chris Rock.
....George Lucas is adopting the Wachowski brothers.
