"Using MHz numbers to compare the speed of different processors is like comparing the speed of cars by looking at how much gas they consume. There is a relationship there, but it isn't the primary one. And it isn't the one you care about."
That is, by far, the best analogy I've heard to describe the Hz myth. I usually use something like taking small steps realy quickly, or making long strides somewhat slower.
and if you have a CRT and you leave it close enough, it will make that distort too.
but I've been able to pass my hand between my cell phone and my speakers and it stops the interfearence, or just separate it by a few feet... and thats for a completely unshielded system. Airplane systems, if they are this paranoid, have to have at least some shielding...
I think by "barrel roll" he means that the plane will crash... and kinda spiral out of control while doing so.
and cell phones won't work well inside a plane anyway... why do you think there is tech just to make it so you can make good calls inside planes? your surrounded by metal and ~1/2 mile above ground I think, and cell phones realy don't have huge range
I knew someone who could tell you there was gonna be a storm later in the day because she would get headaches. It has to do with the air pressure and humidity, not the EM. Maybe even ionized particles can cause it, but thats still not EM.
in the GP's example, if you are gonna compare noise make "normal" a moderate traffic highway, the the burst that equates to lightning has to be something like getting an airhorn blown straight into your ear...
"And due to this, PA has managed to have a construction zone on every road.:-)"
And in NJ they just call an area a "safe corridor" and can double fines also... this also applies in 65mph zones
and I agree about the funding the court thing. The "unsafe operation" charge cost a total of ~$433, with $250 of that being a "state surcharge" in order to make the state more money.
I've seen signs for littering that say $500 fine... the cop was a moron in this case (hell you only need a 2.75 GPA or something to become a cop and they are thinking of lowering it to 2.5) but still technically correct if he sited it as littering.
As for construction zones, you're pretty much screwed if you do anything even slightly out of the ordinary, and then you get the fine doubled in most areas.
oh and that list reminds me of this from "Liar Liar"
Cop: You know why I pulled you over? Fletcher: Depends on how long you were following me! Cop: Why don't we just take it from the top? Fletcher: Here goes: I sped. I followed too closely. I ran a stop sign. I almost hit a Chevy. I sped some more. I failed to yield at a crosswalk. I changed lanes at the intersection. I changed lanes without signaling while running a red light and *speeding*! Cop: Is that all? Fletcher: No... I have unpaid parking tickets. [groans] Fletcher:... be gentle.
because you can get the charges changed around so you don't get points on your licence (speeding changed to "unsafe operation" for example, unsafe op costs more but carries no points if you havn't had 2 of them in the last 5 years, in NJ)

such a loophole could be covered by the "spirit of the game" clause in the ToS. For some reason the ToS page wont load for me right now but there is a line like that.
That loophole has been used in other MMO's and for the most part is completely invalid, and they (GMs) will still ban the accounts involved.
Remember, at the outset of these Terms of Use, where we discussed how you were "licensed" the right to use World of Warcraft, and that your license was "limited"? Well, here is one of the more important areas where these license limitations come into effect. Note that Blizzard Entertainment either owns, or has exclusively licensed, all of the content which appears in World of Warcraft. Therefore, no one has the right to "sell" Blizzard Entertainment's content, except Blizzard Entertainment! So Blizzard Entertainment does not recognize any property claims outside of World of Warcraft or the purported sale, gift or trade in the "real world" of anything related to World of Warcraft. Accordingly, you may not sell items for "real" money or exchange items outside of World of Warcraft.
you wouldn't need to play as much to get a rich character if they wern't inflating the market. It's especialy bad when the people who actually play a lot are still relativly poor
you don't expect me to believe that you stored programs as analog... sure, every waveform transmitted is technicly analog, it just gets interpreted as digital. Same with tape backups.
Perhaps my example of hard disks bad, since the computer doesn't determine if the stuff it read was above the "1" threshold, the HDD does that... but think data recovery, or bit rot or whatever... the magnetic values are analog... I'm having trouble making a good example, but basicly, everything is analog, but some can be interpreted as digital just fine. There are digital cameras that record on "digital tape" which is just tape that is read as digital instead of analog.
If you were storing programs on tape, that was digital also. Remember, hard drives use magnetic storage as well, just on platters (and much more dense of course)
I think Sony already said it would make PS3 backwards compatable... if so, pick up the actual disc at the used section. If not, pick up a PS2 and then pick up the disc... no different than if they never offered the service. Just another option if you prefer.
Off topic I know, but you should definatly check out Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Turn-based, but you can time button presses to make attacks stronger. I've never seen this in any other turn based RPG style, and I loved it. Made you pay attention to animations and got you into the game more.

I had a phone that was capable of analog on verizon... it sucked the battery dry ~5x faster than digital, even while not making calls....

Sad thing is this is true: http://www.openkore.com/
There were several open source versions at one time, but most have closed up by now

from what I understand, not only will all first party games be up for download, but they'll be free as well.
:)
Oh and I've played it on emu before, and was cheap with save state so I could get the super jacket

Seriously, I didn't know realy, didn't follow it, considering I actually played it way after release. I'd like to see this
