    Too late... companies already sell gene sequences. As much as we like to think that genetic manuplation is future.. we are wrong. It has been here for a long time... and it here now in a whole new way. You only hear very small snipits what is going on in private and educational institutions.

    I agree. What you know before using a tool like Visual Studio (C# of course) is what counts in life.

    It is too bad that the /. crowd is critical of the VS suite. For what it is designed for the Visual Studio does a great job at allowing coders with a solid background to develop application quickly and completely. They might not be the most efficient application performance wise, but most computers today have CPU cycles to burn. Any ways C# was designed to develop business applications, not enterprise applications. If you are developing something where CPU cycles and RAM are critical you need to be using C or even assembly.

    I agree completely. I too have bought gear from NewEnough.com and they have always been great. Good for the owner for offering incentive for his employees to join in.

    They are always great about giving back to the community (look at their dollar program for non-profit motorcycle orgnizations) and this is just one more way. I will continue to purchase my gear from them as they offer some of the best prices and some of the best service.

    Not anything too difficult for Apple to fix. All they need is enough companies like ABC to buy in or ever better production companies to cut broadcast companies out of the loop. Once that happens anyone including Apple will be able to either distribute the content in other ways or start hooking up servers to some fatty pipes.

    The funny thing is they know how to clean all those emissions. The problem is the cost to clean it up is much greater than the cost of dealing with the consequences.

    I've seen systems get slow on Windows machines over and over because of memory leaks. Of course Linux will do the same thing, but at least you are free or have more say to your vendor to fix things. Try telling Micrsoft to fix the memory leak in IIS... they just laugh in your face.

    Neither are perfect nor will they ever be, but getting good support for Linux just seems easier.

    It is an interesting thought.. if there is a problem you let the rocket go up without you. But you still have the exhaust from the thrust coming at the payload.

    It's all free trade... dumping is just something created by labor unions and corporations (who all happen to have their paid government officals). I prefer to call it allocation of resources and to encourage it to happen.

    It is called a loss leader.. while illegal in theory it hasn't ever been used to prosecute a business for non-competivite behavior.

    Why is that? In practice the consumer benefits from the transaction more than the business.

    I say let M$ sell its software below cost if that what they think will bring in the masses.

    I have serious doubts that a mp3 player that big has enough battery to meet my power requirements without an outside amp.

    But the 9/11 guys knew what needed to be done to get by security and how to take over a plane and get it turned around enough to crash it into a tall building.

    They will get enough information to do what they want to do. They might not be Lex Luthor, but they ain't stupid either. All they need to do is ask the right question on the right forum and they have the knowledge they need. If you think they are dumber than the FBI you have lot more trust in our government than the majority /.

    Sure it is possible, but how difficult would it be to get around this? Anyone could write an specialized web browser that created traffic that looked similar enough to normal web traffic, but was encrypted in some fashion. All the "bad guys" have to do is analyze how traffic is being blocked and modify it enough so that it gets through.

    Exactly... other than turning off the connection, packet sniffing isn't going to do shit to stop a terrorist that sets up a encrypted connection.

    This is what bothers me most about our government. They are fighting a battle they don't understand and therefore can't win.
