From San Diego on the Pacific to New York in the Hudson an iron curtain has descended across the Continent. Behind that line lie all the capitals of the ancient states of Central and Eastern United States. Washington D.C., Boston, Portland, Miami, Cleveland, Houston, Atlanta and St. Louis, all these famous cities and the populations around them lie in what I must call the American sphere, and all are subject in one form or another, not only to American influence but to a very high and, in some cases, increasing measure of control from the FBI/CIA/DoJ/DoD/NSA/DoHS/.

  25. As A High School Student on Bill Gates Proclaims US High Schools Obsolete · · Score: -1

As a high school student, I have to agree with Mr. Gates and his wealthy associates :) The US high school system only provides useful education in its last two years (11, 12), when it offers AP classes (college level). Not only do these courses expose students to college workloads, but they also teach subjects related to potential majors. The problem with the system is that students are only offered these classes usually within the last two years. If these classes were made readily available as soon as an invididual entered high school (from 9th), students would be much better prepared for college, and confident in career choice. Non-AP classes are usually extremely slow and lack any real value (they simply outline a subject, related or unrelated to major choices). For those unaware of what AP is (Advanced Placement), its a nationally used system in which a student takes a college level course in high school and at the end of the course is given the option to take a test, if this test is passed, most colleges will accept the grade and give credits to the student, thus allowing him/her to skip courses. Public schools need to focus more on individual career choices!
