    nothing against Intel here, but the majority of PC gamers are in the AMD camp, and for good reason. Intel is not the excuse gamers have been waiting for. Why would a casual gamer spend more money on a Mac, when it's still got the same old Intel chip, Windows OS, and costs hundreds more than your average Dell? The CNET forecast is utter bullshit.

    your correct, the day is already here where low end printers are completely disposeable. cartridges are quite expensive, but something tells me that the business of Inks and Dyes isn't that lucrative. And shouldnt there be some form of moral obligation on the part of the printer companies? I wager that throw away printers are not being recycled in a manner than PC's and monitors are. I keep picturing our land fills being loaded up with 50 doller POS printers. Thats enough to make me not wanna buy one.

    another tool for the corporations to sell their goods and services.

    - patron enters store
    - patron gets stimulated by a flood of lazers within the store
    - patron has the urge to purchase more than what he/she origionaly wanted

    this sinister motive is nothing new either, corporations have dumped lots of money in research for these same reasons. I.e. certain fragrences in the air stimulate people to spend money, certain oxygen levels, etc. Ever notice how there is never a clock visable in a department store? The absence of knowing the time makes shoppers less in a hurry to leave.

    I concur with you 100% with your point about overzealous parents. Nor do i feel that while parents can't watch their children 24/7, if they did it would be damning to their relationship to say the least. Sadly I feel that my point was not recieved in a way that i had origionaly intended.

    That being, moral values instilled into our children by our parents have a more posative long term impact than that of any legislation.

    I agree that you can't watch your kids 24/7. But if parents simply took the time to instill some good values into their children these days it really wouldn't matter what they were playing on their hand-helds.
    Is saving a child from purchasing an "M" rated game going to contribute a fart to a childs decision if a pedophile offers to drive them home after school? Or will diciplining a child from playing a violent game contribute at all to a childs decision to weather or not they should meet in person with someone they chatted with on the internet?
    These shit for brains advocasy groups really need to get their priorities straight. Im sure these are the same parents that would rather have cable teevee raise their children then have to raise them themselves. .02 CDN

    not a bad little roundup... however as someone who is seriously in the market for a value ended PVR, i would have like to have seen a comparison with a hardware Mpeg2-encoded PVR in the mix.

    The author mensions the word 'quality' quite a few times... some hardware encoded screenies would have been a good way to measure those statements.
