I accepted a job with another company, with my start date being Jan 2.
It has been about a month since I accepted.
The reason I pushed the start date to Jan 2. is because if I work on the last working day of the year at my current company, I will get the bonus issued for the next year AND the 3 weeks of vacation that I would get for next year.
I plan on giving notice soon... but how much should I give. I'm at a large company, and it is easy to talke with benefits people anonymously. I did so, and was told that as far as he knows, no one was ever let go before their 2 week notice.
I have a big chunk of change to lose if they let me go before Dec 30.
Should I just go with 2 weeks?

And what is a telephoto lens going to capture? A stationary rocket on a blue background? I'd rather watch paint dry.
At the risk of explaining the current state of technology...
Just because the sky is blue on the original video doesn't mean that's what you see on your TV.
You don't even need any real video. Just gps in each plane. Now computers render what's going on from any perspective, and with any background they want. OK, the telephoto cameras show the actual aircraft and it's generally static... but imagine a picture-in-picture. The main screen is the virtual, the little picture is a real image. You care about the real image when black smoke is bellowing out of it, or the pilot ejects.
If you think something would be boring, you are probably right. And so they won't do that! They'll do something cooler than that.
This isn't flamebait. The logistics necessary for interesting camera work are going to be impossible. Would you really watch a show featuring two shrinking dots? I personally wouldn't care enough to be interested in which one shrinks the fastest.
I think you're right. Because who ever heard of telephoto lenses, blimps, computers, and virtual effects at a sporting event?
"Fans at home will be treated to a three-dimensional course where the "tracks" pilots are following can be seen. Special effects for lap completions, barrier violations and penalties will also be a part of the show."
I think they'd show a virtual track(s). With GPS in each plane they can just put the virtual track in the right place in the video. Maybe it hasn't been done, so at first it might be pretty basic... but of course it will improve with time.
Does anyone else find time and time again that reading these long Scientific American or PopSci articles leaves you wondering why you just wasted so much time on it?
I always end up wondering why the author couldn't have just condensed it down to a few paragraphs without losing anything.
Speeding up the conveyor belts in Walmart's warehouses doesn't mean every box of Kraft Mac & Cheese would have RFID. Only the big brown box containing them. All the consumer products in the big boxes won't have them.
I don't think all the references to how you'll get scanned out of the grocery store faster don't apply.
As long as you need to fill the garbage can with water, why not just run the input tube straight from a slow running faucet? Sure it isn't ice water, but in my area the water pipes are buried deep enoug so they are cold.
You won't use any more water, and you don't need the impressive garbage can in the living room any more.
Isn't anyone worried about the environmental effects of this? With more daylight, global warming will increase, nocturnal animals will lose sleep, and plants won't grow as long.
Doesn't anyone think these things through anymore?

Is there anything stopping me from sending a container packed with organisms to Mars? Is there anything preventing me from sending my own terraforming device to Mars? Aside from the money and technology... who is going to stop me? Who owns Mars?
Who's stopping me from sending my own sterilized equipment to Mars that ooops! isn't so sterilized.

Or maybe the kids will just play tag, touch football, etc anyway.
That's what we would have done when I was a kid.
According to the article, TV only causes autism if you watch The People's Court! Definitely... definitely People's Court... yeah.
First it's the iPod causing hearing loss.
Then it's the headphones.
In a few months it will be high volume levels.
In a few years it will be molecules vibrating at a high frequency!
Sheesh!
This is moronic.

I don't think we should use "steroids" to signify bigger/stronger things.
There are other ways to be clever without promoting drug use.
I'm serious.
You nay too much! By chance... are you a horse?
Neigh... can't be

I agree DJ Ditty is a poor name choice.
I would have gone with F'in Biatch

Awwwww... da liddle bitty commander-waander doesn' like da baby-waby talky-walky.
Nope. It will still use the 12v 0.5A it always has.
No worries.

Can someone please acquire photos of the following items:
- gas station used to fuel the trucks
- hose used to clean the trucks
- steel drums containing the trucks used oil
These would be most (snort) valuable for my collection. (snort)

I used to do this all the time. Mostly with broken electronics that would otherwise be thrown in the trash.
I'm surprised more geeks aren't on his side.
What's with the comments about natural selection, and darwin and killer ipod. You are the morons!!!
Natural selection doesn't work just because you have "breathing difficulties". You have to DIE before reproducing.
"In other news, the boy's Mom cut her finger while chopping celery. Geeks everywhere make Darwin jokes."
I for one welcome our new Saturn moon-like rock speck.
welcome our new Dell 19" laptop overlords.

Are they clones turned bad? And outfitted differently?
How come the Episode 1-3 droids and battle droids are never seen again in 4+?
I was expecting these to be answered in 3... but so far I don't see it.
