You sound like the type of guy who'd bitch about getting extra of gravy on top of your extra serving of mash potatos.

If you don't like the product, you don't have to buy the product. Additionally, you don't need to petition a large group of people to have the product overturned.

The truth of the matter is, iPod is still around with it's sisters Nano and Shuffle. They have rightfully placed iPhone into a category of it's own, since it's simply not iPod or Mac. Therefore, be free in your choice of the already successful iPod(s) or move to the Zune; it has a bigger screen...

Or, you could just enjoy the extra gravy you get with the iPhone and leave it at that...

The quote you have is out of context. They said it's easy to get running, but it doesn't perform very well.

There are improvements to PHP that can be made on Windows. Example, IIS integration.

I'm not saying that it's hard to do, but it's not with the whole "plug and play" mentality that Microsoft has.
Developers shouldn't have to be server administrators too.

Server administrators, often times not programmers, have no clue about PHP and how to get it running. The most
they know about it is that PHP programs end in .php.

Easy of installing PHP under IIS would be a good improvement. It would coincide with this whole "plug-and-play"
mentality Microsoft has and would also take the need off developers to admin servers.

Unfortunatly, OSS developers cannot easily innovate a new interface. Companies like Apple and Microsoft have the money to research HID in addition to paying developers.

It's rule of thumb when developing a 'killer' OSS app that it's interface is designed similar to the app your are trying to kill. You have got to understand in the case of StarOffice, you are trying to steal away people who don't think Microsoft is a horrible company nor think Office is a bad product. Unless those people can be convinced that it is easier to work inside StarOffice and it would be a seemless migration (like switching to new software ever is) they will not switch.

This is one of the reasons Office is so successful and why most 'killers' have been failures.

It isn't a bad thing. What people don't get is that when these powerful cards get released, the cards we call "high-end" today drop in price. This is a very good thing, because it saves everyone a couple bucks that can go toward beer!

I'm sorry, there doesn't have to be any proof that violence is linked to video games. This is no different than the prohibition propaganda seen in the 20's. There was enough political backing saying drinking was linked to broken homes and the ruining people's lives that Eighteenth Amendment was signed into the constitution. Unfortunately for everyone who can think for themselves, someone in office is going to make a decision for you -- what to watch, what to play, what to do, etc.

What it comes down to is we don't need prohibition on our media, nor do we need politicians giving blanket moratoriums that all kids who play violent video games are going to go outside and mimic the game play.

Let me ask you this: Are there any studies out there that say Americans are overall happier when they are allowed to make decisions for themselves, or is that just lunacy?

    * Are there any decent portable movie players?
    * Can we burn our movies to DVD like we can burn our music to CD?
    * I have a Mac & PC, but for everyone here who lives on *nix, will there be cross-platform software?
    * Are we going to be downloading 4.6GB DVD's or compressed divx-like files? Also, how are you going to pay for all that bandwidth without killing your customers with additional charges?
    * Finally, what will be the selling point to downloading movies to your computer. Why not just go out and rent, or even yet, rent online through NetFlix or Blockbuster?

These are all very valid points that need to be addressed before anyone tackles this. Napster has yet to do this and I see them headed for a bust.
