How is this "vaporware" when they are easily available on Newegg and ebay?
Is it "vaporware" just because you can't walk into your local Office Depot/Fry's/Whatever and pick one up?
Although the can't force you to use it, it is forced to be your default search engine on a new install of Firefox(not that I have a problem with that).
There was an upgrade path at the time, I used the upgrade version myself.
I remember having to install 98 just so I could install 2000, and if you are talking about dates, it was somewhere between 2000-2002.
I know YMMV, but it seems strange to me when people start talking about hard drive failures.
In the past 15 years, out of a total of about 10 computers I had control of, only one had a hard drive failure, and that was a 6 month old Dell desktop.
I had a seven year old Quantum 12GB hard drive which worked fine until I replaced it with a bigger one.
I doubt the average computer user would even want to deal with fixing a 5 year old computer rather then buying a new one, even if they had recovery disks.
I don't understand why this warranted a/. article, doesn't Mozilla usually have the "mirror" releases available a few days before t hey announce it?
Wasn't 1.0 available about three days prior to official release, you just had to get it in the same manner as this?
I hate Windows just as much as the next guy, but have you ever tried getting WPA to work with a Linksys WPC54G on Ubuntu?
After a few days I gave up, where on Windows it takes about 2 minutes.
Here on the west coast, I've never seen DS or PSP sold out at Costco, Fry's, Walmart, or anything of the like.
I haven't went into a EB or GameStop for a while though so I can't say anything about those places.

I always use All Access Gift's prepaid Visa cards, their website has a store locater.
Where does it say that the stores can't make backup copies but not saying anything about the consumer? Go read your mattress.

Do you have it load on startup and sit in the taskbar, like it defaults to?
That doesn't stop an employer from telling you "If you are going to take time off to go vote, bring me back the receipt or you are fired."
Wait, are you saying NaDa isn't a real program?

Last I checked there were 4 SPs for Windows 2000, not 2.
What difference would it make to working adults if it ran on gaming systems?
Its jigawatt, not gigawatt!
I've always had problems installing from the live-CD, if I intend to do an installation I download the "alternate" ISO.

Fix the copy and paste? In both Windows and Linux it works fine for me.
What spam do you speak of? I don't see why anybody smaterter then a ball of wax would invent the grocery variety.
How in the world does the first post get modded redundant?
Apple is a little behind the times... Windows 1.0.3?
Do you have anything to back that number up?
18 carat, not 24.
So what if I decided to setup some other server on port 25, such as HTTP or FTP? Would they tax me for those?
