Notice that it's in PHP? Seriously, slashcode is converting to php from perl. That should tell you something about the guys now behind the scenes. Not that I believe that perl is better than php or vice versa, but still.. that was the CORE of slashcode. It's all going to "quick and easy to maintain".
Well, since there is a Facebook app for damn near every phone over here, and you know that nobody in Japan goes anywhere without their phone, it's a safe bet that they will have a way to post their status.
Not a bad idea really.
Grr.. Damnit slashdot, I am not on an open proxy! Just because port 8080 is open on a router is not a reason to stop people from posting. Jeez.
Yup, me too. Had a bag/car phone in the late 90's. That thing pushed out something like 7 watts IIRC! I was getting reception in places where humans have no right to communicate. I would charge people $1/min to use said cell phone since there was absolutely no wired or cellular service that could be used in that area.
MAC filtering is useless and a non-broadcast SSID is even worse. It shows someone that you have something to hide. All it takes is a single client to connect and the SSID is in the open anyways.
Just set it up with a WPA 2 password and set up a captive portal.
Even on the road today this is an issue. Doesn't matter how good of a driver you are. If one other idiot on the road is driving crazy, you could get killed no matter how you drive. Weakest link and all that...
Wow, Used to have one of those myself. If you dropped your keys the damned thing turned through the channels in "man" mode :)
It can't be lupus.
Wow, sorry, bad form to reply to myself but it's worse than I thought. They're using wordpress for the BI section.

And once again, there is no picture in the article. Why post a story about the creation of an imaging technique without pics.
tl;dr pics or it didn't happen.
Hey, for your FYI, that's how everyone seems to talk these days :)
The stamp on the side of the box.
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that.
No, but watch out for sawthooth waveforms!
What does an '80s rock band have to do with anything? Mod parent off topic! :)

Your welcome. Your wife has already thanked me :)
See, now if you would have tweeted that, you would get a free ticket back to your country, compliments of the DHS :)
Mine is "Homeopathic Wi-Fi".
The stronger the signal you have, the slower the connection goes.

Try a google search for "Captive WiFi Portal".
That's the term you want. Get yourself a DD-WRT compatible router and install one of these packages: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Captive_Portal
850nm should be enough for anybody.
What we need is a Festivus for the rest of us!
Isn't apk an acronym?
Sorry, couldn't resist :)

Perhaps he had an electric fan running on that train? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_death
Also, news here in Japan is reporting he had a heart attack. Over-stressed indeed.
You mean that until now there has been no standard for issuing publicly trusted SSL Certs?
Too bad this is a radio telescope and not optical. No comparison to Hubble.
Ahh, you'll never really understand that book until you've read it in the original Klingon.
