Now, I'm no cosmologist, but these two descriptions of the theory seem to be in conflict...does the matter in the universe come together in the Big Crunch, or does it fly off into space forever, replenished by subsequent Big Bang events?

Personally, the Big Crunch leaves the reason that that the universe will recycle itself in another Big Bang while Heat Death just means an everlasting permanent dead universe.

Personally, I'd like localized big crunches and big bangs better than the other two because that means if I were to live long enough to where a Technological singularity did happen in my life time and I did get to live for millions of years, I'd have a better chance of avoiding the End of the Universe by just moving my being away from any big crunches or big bangs going on at that moment.

Of course... I've got a lot more to be worried about than trying to figure where I'm going to be in 100 billion years (if at all) and even then I doubt I will have much say in how the universe ends or doesn't end.

Literature guides your faculties, it doesn't fool them and then expect them to expand things past the breaking point.

I'd bet you say the same thing about Dada art. ;)

Sometimes the point of art is to "not get it".

There is no meaning. There is not higher mental or intellectualism to this type of art.

Sometimes art is more than that... And you aren't supposed to get anything out of art other than a pure emotional reaction to your inner gut or the neurons of your mind exploding in a brain fart that says "What the F*ck?!"

That is the problem with many people... They think art is supposed to make them smarter, more intellectual, or a better person. That isn't what art is about.

Of course, neither is it... say... what Reality TV.

Well... She can't just pop out of her body like a pilot. If she is a Robo-mecha that pretty much anyone else is.

And gits follows a different plot line. 99.9% she is in her own body unless you count her being in cyberspace not.

In a Giant-robo movie. Most of the time the lead character does his thing outside the robot... The conversation... The drama... And then all of a sudden a big baddy arrives in the city to wreck havok and they lead character jumps in his big robot and fights the thing off and then you have the ending scene with the character usually leaving the robot.

In GITS (especially Stand Alone Complex I and II)... You are treated to very dynamic and well thought out plots. Yes there are guys in mechanized suits and the spider robots (tachikoma's) but these are done realistically and not key feature of the plot. Tachikoma's are often thought of as comic humor relief, but during many episodes these robots are contemplating deeper issues like "The Meaning of Life" and what happens to you after you die while the lead characters often kept a more serious down to earth attitudes.

Most of the plots are semi-realistic or believable enough but still "out there" enough to be considered sci-fi. That and the technobabble is kept to a minimum.

Overall I do have some minor complaints about the second series plot direction (but it maybe because the viewer is supposed to be frustrated with the current events), but it is far better than most average Giant-Robot anime.

I work for a 3rd party Office Tech support company and every time an company upgrades from 97, 2000 to either 2002 and 2003 I already know what the call is about. Here are the top 3 questions...

    1. Why can't I get rid of Track changes? - This one is major. We get calls all the time about this and it is a bitch to describe how to accept all changes because you can no longer to it through the Tools, Track Changes, Accept all Changes in document menu. You have to find the "Peice of paper" with the check mark on it and then accept. This may not even be visible on their screen becacse their toolbars might be coverning the options up. That or add the Accept all Changes back to the tool bar through customize toolbars but that is a pain to do each item.

Well that isn't the half of this issue... Mostly these people just upgraded and now all their documents have track changes. I have spoken to literally hundreds of users who saw this and then immediatley figured it was the Final Showing mark up and they toggle it only to find when they reopen the document it shows the track changes again.

    2. I can't figure out mail merges?! - From 97 to 2000 you had a simple 3 step merge process which in 2002 and 2003 they converted to 6 steps which most of the menus don't make sense and has it own set of DDE bugs. Now they have to relearn it all over again.

    3. I want to get rid of the task pane! - Yes this a simple and silly question, but these people are paying us by the minue to fix these problems and so we spend about 90 seconds having them go to the tools, options, general and uncheck startup task pane.

Trust me... Non techies do not like change. They want to learn their job and then just do it without having to mess with change... EVER!

Vista is going to put a world of hurt on the corporate world. Yeah... It going to keep me employed and busy, but I'm sure all the CIO's are collectively cringing thinking about how much is going to cost them to retrain their work force.

Anything made past 2000 is just unreasable to expect returns off scraped items unless you have the computer equipment in your garage to get it working correctly and I don't think most chop shops would put that much effort in it.
