Perhaps they could do something more sensible than just dropping a network from search results. I'm imagining a variation of the cable tv "call your network and tell them you'll cancel service if they don't keep FX"(just an example..). Perhaps right under every result from the networks domain would have a link (under the Cache link and all that) to some google spin suggesting you contact the network and tell them to give you google tv.
27million dollars int; a lot of money when talking about a big city. a 1% reduction in traffic accidents would save that a lot quicker then you would imagine.
Pretty sure this guy is on to something. Even a quarter of a percentage drop in accidents would cover it over 8 years I bet. Accidents are expensive, not just for drivers and insurance companies (Ok, insurance companies make money in the grand scheme). Accidents require many police, emt, and and electric linemen to get things back to normal. Thats salaries, in some cases pensions and retirement. Just a thought.
It is in the contract between a BP subsidiary (gulf deepwell exploration only is what this subsidiary does) and the obama administration. Basically, only that subsidiary agrees to pay anything, and they are solely deep wells. So, if no more deep well exploration is going on, they "don't know" if they will be able to pay. I wish I had sources on this, but I heard it on the radio, so I'm not 100% on it, perhaps someone else can fill in the blanks.
Agreed. Look I own apple products (including an MBP), but really, WHO CARES IF THE PRE-ORDER IS BROKEN FOR A BIT?! It's not like your going to get it any later if you don't get your pre-order in right now, because no one else is getting in the line either. This isn't news, and OP's run on sentence is really how slashdot reads some times. "Filter out apple stories" you say? But then there is a slim chance I'll miss some real news.
Where does it rank as far as harming the earth? We can't know until it ends, I'd guess not as bad as mass deforestation.
Where does it rank as far as causing economic loss a large part of the U.S.? I'd say its pretty bad.
jury rigged a microscope eh? sounds like evidence for a court case was being forged or doctored. i always thought the term was jerry rigged, but maybe its regional.
prison stay for failure to blow? not so much, i have no idea where your getting this from, its a mandatory DL suspension. atleast not in florida, and the only state more backward is texas when it comes to arresting the most people possible and trying to send them to prison. in fact if you fail to blow, do the field sobriety test and don't make a fool out of yourself (ie your just "a little" drunk). the prosecutor will drop it down to reckless driving. your license is still suspended for a year for failure to blow BUT you can get a hardship permit after 3 months for work and school which you would not be eligible for with a DUI. Also DUIs stay on your record a lot longer/forever and are worse on insurance than a reckless.
Healthcare - well instead of uncle sam paying for 50%, he'll pay for 100%, of our national medical expenses. This is his biggest change.
What the HELL are you talking about? Obviously those numbers are pulled out of thin air, but seriously, it's not like theres going to be a public option. What ARE you talking about?
I think most people would want to do SOMETHING other than stay home all day. Maybe I'm off base but most people I meet want to be productive members of society, even if they bitch.
There has never been any reliable effect, and as studies become increasingly more well-designed, effect sizes diminish or disappear completely. This is a sign that there is nothing happening.
Or a sign the studies are being designed by people who already believe acupuncture doesn't work. Never doubt the power of bias. Any studies from asian universities agreeing with your conclusion?
Dude, If I'm not working on European cars I'm sleeping or posting on slashdot. BMW parts are not that expensive (for same-brand replacement as came out of the car). Just don't get them from the dealer. Also fairly common cars, jaguar on the other hand.... good luck. Even VW parts are more of a pain in the ass to find locally most of the time.
This has to do (i have heard) with laws in either Germany or the EU dictating that sports cars of a certain class must show a higher readout because it slows people down. Wish someone from Germany could chime in.
bmw speedometers go from 0 - 20 - 40 - 60 on the major increments, with unmarked lines for 10 - 30 - 50 - 70. so anything under 10 is just sort of a ? and as soon as you are moving it infers you are going 10mph (probably 4-6 over) (at least in my 328i '97)
Why -1? This is right on.
I'm relatively sure it is. Ethanol comes in at 9kcal/gram. They don't call them beer guts for nothing.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking too.
So, this Taiwan-based company gets their product to market first, before acer and hp. I wonder why?
I can concur that this is what grade school in florida was like during the early to mid 90s when i was enrolled, terrible.
Mod truth, not troll.

this is not a troll, its a larger market, not a better market. full disclosure: i own ps3 and an aspire one, so i'm not exactly doing much pc gaming.

someone get this news to harry potter and friends, unicorn tears are probably more rare than silver.
more likely this guy submitted this story, or better yet: hes a hype pusher for this phase change storage.
thats not the same brand dude. the DivX codec was a play on the name DIVX.

the idea of scarcity driving up demand ;-)
