    Maybe this depends on what you're referring to as self-guided but the in vogue approach of not teaching multiplication tables, long division, etc. has shown to result in a poorer understanding of mathematics.

    I do, I also realize it is not the recording industry that grants the licenses nor does the recording artist doesn't profit from it only the songwriter. More importantly Youtube is the broadcast medium, not the broadcaster.

    The record industry clearly sees Youtube as a value advertising mechanism or they wouldn't be uploading every video they make to Youtube. As for the rest, they're essentially adding a new revenue stream by monetizing home video.

  6. I suspect you'll find most people wouldn't have known about it, I didn't until earlier this year and have been using Angular 1 for an enterprise application for 5-years. I can't see us re-writing the application so we'll be sticking with 1.x, and if we do eventually then why would we choose Angular 2? Fool me once....

    Why oh why does this specifically call out electronic means? Why isn't there a single statute which would also cover writing letters, etc. why do they need different handling?

    I wonder what the lawsuit is actually for. I have a hard time believing Tesla could sue for someone impersonating Elon, wouldn't he himself need to do it? Perhaps attempted theft of trade secrets?

    One wonders what this clown would have done with the information, had he been successful and used it for financial gain then I assume he could have run into legal problems with the SEC if caught.

    It definitely puzzles me how on Slashdot the two links are to a popularist academic and an entrepreneur with no theoretical standing instead of the originator or any other number of real articles over the last decade.

    Its not lucky, its the sites you have open. The browser (and OS) don't have the ability to know what code running is important (e.g. is it doing background processing, or is it a shitty ad?) to change this automatically. On Linux you could probably start your browser with nice, though that would probably have a negative effect for actual browsing.

    The incremental delivery really leads to the major features being broken up into a bunch of tiny stuff that we don't notice. If you think about Chrome also, what was the last major change they launched, personally I can't remember anything there either.

    • minimal UI is better than old UI
    • Firefox is generally competitive on speed
    • Firefox has lowest memory usage of all browsers
    • Android port never crashes for me on Nexus devices /shrug
    • You mean it isn't bloated and doesn't use a lot of memory like Chrome?

    As a Java supporter... No. The trouble with the Java model is it attempts to blacklist actions rather than whitelist them, it also doesn't help that as a full featured language it has considerably more going on.

    Mine is at 0%. If Firefox (or Chrome, because it does it too) is burning CPU cycles it is the fault of a browser tab, I've seen a few sites that regularly cause issues if they're open for an extended period of time. Interestingly on Linux this seems more likely to occur than on Windows.

    Doesn't hurt that their main competitor Chrome bundles flash making life more convenient for users and promotes people to switch on the world's biggest search engine.

    If you don't like what they're doing, fork it. Don't expect that open source means you can dictate what developers choose to do.
