Just keep in mind that linecount is not a measure of program awesomeness or programmer leetness: it is a measure of effort, and not a great one at that (in one particular project I've worked on, I've started mostly from scratch twice, and I've probably written 3 times as many lines of code that are actually part of the current branch. Of course, I'm not a professional coder; I code for personal pleasure... if a professional wrote significantly more lines than made it into the project, he is wasting company resources...
Count every line of code written specifically for this project. Publically availabe libraries don't count; internal libraries written by the author (for use in this project or generalized internal code from a previous project does. This accurately reflects the complexity of the app from the coder's perspective.
I much much prefer the AIM look and feel since the last time I tried both of those... perhaps they have improved in the last few years. On a more important note, DeadAIM doesn't break every other time the protocol is updated.
Those ads are the reason I bought DeadAim. After leaving my volume all the way up one night and waking up to a movie add blasting through my speakers at 2:00 am I got sick of it.
I had issues with RealPlayer, so I blamed Real, not Windows. I uninstalled RealPlayer (well, tried), found a much better alternative, never looked back. So, "It's Real's fault! BLAME THEM!"
oh, wait... its windows...wrong option
Your grandparent made no mention of Flash being bundled with his distribution. If I had trouble with my flash plugin (lets assume I use IE for now), I'd blame Shockwave, not microsoft.
And once again, the Windows apologists lack of content, relevant arguments, and non-generalized-FUD shines.
he card's X700 processor, code named R410GL, is based on a 110-nanometer process and the card sports eight pixel pipelines, six geometry engines, 128 MB of GDDR3 memory
the question is, Can it run Doom 3?
Because Punycode allows websites to use full Unicode names, IDNA could leave their users open to phishing attacks. IDNA makes it possible to create a spoofed web site that looks exactly like another, including domain name and security certificate, but in fact is controlled by someone attempting to steal private information. See Internationalizing Domain Names in Applications for more.
Kind of the same idea as pumping water into a tower and then later opening the tower at the bottom and using the flowing water to run a generator.
So, what type of battery did you use to pump the water up the tower?
A battery provides orders of magnitude more energy per unit volume than compressed air. The tanks would be manageable, but would you really rather hook your calculator up to a milkjug instead of 4 triple a batteries?
Even better would be to simply enforce a 3 second delay between login attempts... as is mainstream in practically any nix box, and winXP to a certain extent. WinXP is more like 3 instant attempts with an 8 second delay.
Sometimes you have to make the short term price cuts instead of the long term savings because you don't have enough money to cover the less expensive alternatives initial cost.
Have you ever rented an appartment? That's lost money. Could you afford to invest in a house right after school?
slashdot the fundraising page? Talk about massive revenue... Anyway, bandwidth isn't their concern *as I speak, you hear a boom as the offsite server goes up in smoke*
Didn't Yoda say that?
I also like not being more beholden to big companies for my communication.
Oh, like yahoo, hotmail, and ?
I know you editors aren't supposed to actually read the stories, but can't you at least make an attempt at cleaning up this garbage summary?

> What is a reliable means of counting LOC then?

If it "probably is the flash player's fault," don't go blaming it on Linux.
rebuttle to the windows fanboys: If it's Internet Explorer's fault, it is Window's fault, becasue Internet Explorer is Windows.

Could you please explain why that matters?
Thats funny, your girlfriend blows goats too
Me neither; I've always been a fan of Fake Audio myself. Much crisper silence.
Python is god off slashdot, too.

I had to go back and reread the summary to figure out wht he was talking about.
