Yeah... way to slip in the rumor that WGA disables a PC it thinks is pirated.
It does no such thing.
It is by all standards very annoying to legitimate users (it has caused several problems with my network at work) but it doesn't go around "breaking" computers left and right, Paul's situation is the first time I have heard of a false positive (and I am sure we would hear about it).
I hate having to deal with Microsoft products to do my job (not the products really but the "support" that comes with them) but going around and falsely accusing them of what may in some countries be considered a crime is a little much.
Sounds like the uninstall didn't revert some settings in the registry (or Firefox's config files) try a clean reinstall of Firefox.
That does bring up a very god point though; while Firefox does have extensions to give it almost any functon or feture at least half of them tend to break when you update to the latest offical version and somtimes they are never repaired.
Congratulations To the crew and all of NASA.
I am glad to have our astonauts back home safely. And I am glad NASA is willing to overcome this chalange and continue our space program.
That's a good point, but I would have to assume given the fact that this is for innoculating birds that India would share in the intrest of not seeing a human for of the virus develope in another country and spread to India's population or at the very least damage the global economy that India depends on right now.
Both sides are way to good a designing benchmarks and "tests" that show themselves as winners.
One big attraction (for me) to Intel chips has always been the Intel (north and southbridge) chipsets having seen many systems in various stages of there lives. It is realy hard to beat the stability of an Intel chip on an Intel board and AMD does not offer that (not to say if they did it would be inferior).
Honestly it is looking more and more like my next system will be an ATI Intel combo like the last one, maybe I have just be "lucky" but whenever I have tried to use an AMD or nVidia based product I have been dissapointed.
Is it going to be a good movie?
Really I can forgive a writer for changing the story here and there (Halo after all is not writen anything like a movie) if the end product stands on it's own and is enjoyable to watch.
There are two things to avoid: being too much like the game (hard to watch, non-gamers don't get it) and reworking the story so much it has no relation to the game (The game fanboys will pan it and not encorage others to see it).
Anyway... that's my opinion... I'm sure there is a German director out there who will chalenge me to a fist fight over it.
Yeah he is a Konami charecter... on a side note... does anyone think having Snake as a charecter in a "beat 'em up " takes the place of a full MSG game?
>> The kind of people who are still running Windows 98 are exactly the same people who will happily run Linux. And these same people really care about whether it's supported by Microsoft or not.
>You forgot the/sarcasm, so now you will be modded Insightful;-)
Right... but his sarcasm is insightful. He has a good point, that most home users still running 9x aren't following every move Microsoft makes or for that matter even updating there system. windows 9x in all it's forms will still exist here and there for years, it will likely out live us all. (I doubt MS has a "kill switch" in 98.)
The editors must love watching the various console fanboys and trolls fight over what will happen 6 to 12 months from now. I am going to wait untill a game I actualy want to play (MSG4: Substance comes to mind and no I don't care what platform it ends up on) is released before I commit to any of these systems.
P.S. Someone pease reply to this message with something about how the 360 is out and "the best console ever".
First, thank you for responding to my whole post. (as others pointed out I didn't realize XBL silver has the same downloadable content)
Second, I will admit to being picky about my games (I don't really see it as a bad thing) here is a list of games I do like:
1. City of Heroes. (the only MMO I have ever returned to) 2. Metal Gear Solid 1-3. (MGS 4 is a big deal for me) 3. Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner. (never played the first one) 4. Shadow of the Collosus. 5. Grand Theft Auto 3 and so on. (finally sims that don't feel like work all the time... and I get a kick out of the free gameplay more than the violence) 6. Quake 4. (on the PC, this is what I mean by FPS (first person shooter). I just can't get into shooters on the console (like Halo) I grew up with fast paced sci-fi PC shooters and I guess that is what I like) 7. Puzzle Fighter. (It was made as a joke but it is a great puzzle game) 8. Mario 64 DS. (never really got into it on the N64 but it makes a good portable time waster.)
Basicaly I tend to like games with a combination of inovative gameplay and an engaging story, (granted, what people find engaging is subjective) I tend to focus less on dificulty and/or finding a nearly identical game to fill a craving for "new content" like what has drivven the endless WW2 shooters to market.
I have never been a huge fan of fantasy games so I have not tried Oblivion... I hear it is a good addition to the Morrowind series. This is part of the reason I don't list any Japanese style RPGs as well.
As for my opinions on Microsoft... well... I may be a bit harsh but there where quite a few games in the sprit of DOA: Extreme Beach Vollyball, and Outlaw Golf filling the Xbox lineup and if that is what people want to buy more power to them. On the other hand, if that is what the future of console gameing holds then I will have to spend my money somwhere else.
Am I the only one who refuses to pay a subscription so that I have the privlage of paying for additonal content?
If Sony makes the service itself free of cost than I might consider it, but if they chose the Xbox live model forget about it.
On a side note, are there any decent games on the 360 yet, or is it faring as well as the Xbox did in that regard? (I may be in the monority here but I do not care for sport "sims", racers and console speed FPSes)
The biggest thing I fear in the gaming industry is Microsoft killing inovation by flooding the market with focus group tested "sure thing" products.
Well sure... follow the money...
There is no point in compromising a Mac but if you hack Windows you have a marketable product.
After the pigs sprout wings and Macs take over the 95% market share lets see how many proffesonal hackers turn there attention away from Microsoft's products.
Saying OSX is more robust than Windows XP is irelivant... where there is a will there is a way.

Would we? Unfortunatly yes. The voting population has a very short memory and attention span.
Well... let me put it this way... that would be another first (I think, does Richard Nixon count?).
Besides that, if another republican is president at the time he will simply pardon GWB... that has happened before.

Is this a cart or does it live in memory on the DS?

I'm sorry if that was confusing... I ment Intel proc/chipset with an ATI graphics card.
And yeah I just saw that article.

India is trying really hard to catch up to the US but I don't think they are that jaded and incompasonate yet. (kidding :))

I'd say the Metal Gear universe is just as movie worthy if not more for the same reasons you state.
I would like to see a Halo (or MGS) Movie flesh out other themes and parts of the story not explored in the games.
Like the relationship between Zone of the Enders and it's associated Anime and movie.

Um.. the only sure fire way not to be moderated in a way you don't like is not to post.
On that note, some of the big things children learn K-8 are scocial skills and respect for other opinions.
PETA is always annoyed, so that isn't a problem.
That can't be right...
You know... I think Bittorrent never really wanted to be the illegal content distribution system of choice... at least on paper.

That is certanly how cross platform applications work.

My head hurts to even think about a "News for nerds" site that does not include technology previews and reviews.
Perhaps you ment to type a diffrent URL?
Man...
Why did you say that out loud? Now Microsoft won't fall for that one....
