I actually go to high school, and I also don't say the pledge (because I don't believe we live the country that the pledge is talking about, not because I don't believe in God). However, I have never once been ridiculed for just standing up, hands by my side, and not pledging. In fact, my home room teacher mocks the pledge by reciting it quickly before the P.A. system has gotten a word out and shouting "for all" at the end of the pledge. Last year's homeroom teacher said "pledge your grievances, erm, I mean 'pledge your allegiance'" before the morning ritual everyday. No one takes the pledge seriously anymore.
Hell, I still don't know how to use chmod. However both me and my mother can (un)check read/write in a gui, which both *nix and Windoze (NT/XP at least) has.
...with the professed aim of raising young people's awareness of the dangers of spending too much time in front of a computer.
I wish someone told me about the dangers of spending all my time in front of a computer as a kid! Then I wouldn't have this annoying high paying job I have to go to everyday! Erm, wait...
Actually Ebay warns you when you are about to leave nuetral feedback telling you "it can't be retracted" as if you are killing the seller's reputation.
My University is not going to bail me out if I kill someone or steal a car, so i don't expect them to protect me if I violate someone else's copyright.
If I used University supplied lock smith tools to steal a car or maybe even shoot someone with an AK given to all the incoming freshmen on the college grounds I think the University might care how there "tools" were being used. Yes, the RIAA views Kazaa as a threat even bigger then an AK barrel shoved down their throats. I assume that with all the propoganda Universities see the arguments as equivalent to your right to bear arms.
Better to develop for Kmymoney2, a nice KDE/Qt C++ app, which
behaves more like Quicken and Microsoft Money, the two most popular money managment apps.
(emphesis my own) So since it looks, smells and acts like popular apps it must be good right? I hate this attitude because it stifles innovation. If you are always trying to play catch-up to the latest version of the hot software of the moment you will never become the hot app. GnuCash brings a new method of money management to the table (accounts) and one I prefer much more to Quickens less organized check book clone. GnuCash is the best money management out there for Windows or Linux because it innovates, which is more then I can say for most software (especialy Kapps).
But if they find some DNA that belongs to some random stranger they have a new suspect that may have not come up through other methods. Makes being a serial killer tougher.
Now for us geeks we can save some valuable keystrokes with: Ewhy e{does everything need an e in front of it when it has something to do with the internet or computers ?}
As another teen with money, I would suggest getting a debit card. If your bank is nice and your parents will agree to cosign on it then you should be in luck. I can shop at any on-line store that accepts MasterCard (I, for one, welcome our new "master" card masters). The trick is I still gotta talk my parents into driving me to the bank when I have a check to deposit.
Usually the shortcut does something to the effect of: "ut2003 -ini=UnrealSpeed.ini". Look through your System folder to see if there are any related inis. Once you do find it you will have to change all instances of D3D to OpenGL and WinDrv to SDLDrv, or something like that, to make it run in Linux.
Or, if you're really stupid, it's the same as your online banking password. I still do not see this fear of someone else finding out I only have $1.39 of beer money left.
It's kinda sad, when I was a kid they used to open the door and let kids look into the cockpit while boarding the plane. That's no more and will never be again.
And if your "friendly neghborhood pilot" is a raving lunatic with a goat mask and a big knife you would not be notified until he had killed you all. I like to see the person I will be entrusting my life with, thank you very much. On the other hand, pilots can dispense with silly and expensive rules like "you must wear clothes while flying the plane" and "you can not rape the stewardress or the co-pilot during the flight".
I think of it as really smart geeks working in secret so that we will never be able to work in secret ourselves, but whatever.
My favorite is the last one which is one of the most blatent comparison to the size of your gaming system to the size of your eh... stuff.
He made it didn't he?
Woohoo! Video games pay off again!
(I'm joking)
This, my friends, is an imposter! No self respecting student pays for a piece of software when there is file sharing available.
Or you could call it listening to the community, but whatever.
"Would you like a liberal version or a conservative one?"
"I'll take the Libertarian version."
Clerk hands me an empty box

It's amazing how resourceful Billy G can be if he puts his mind to it: Windows XP Iron Edition.

It's like second on the list right after the pr0n get's archived. Geez, what are you guys doing all this time?
I guess they just got a lot of pr0n.
Compile it yourself! Every voter would compile the code Gentoo-style when they entered the booth.
I knew Gentoo was the answer for everything!

Yep, they missed Bob. Looks like all you Windows zealots are stuck with a big yellow smiley face for an operating system.

Was it just me (and my Slashdot bias) or did anybody eslse (with their Slashdot biases) see it as a mad anti-??AA movie?

A quick grep shows us that this has been added in the 2199 patch for linux:
./ucc-bin umodunpack -x file.ut2mod -nohomedir
./ucc-bin umodunpack -l file.ut2mod -nohomedir
- Added a "umodunpack" commandlet to ucc, to extract ut2mod files.
Usage:
to extract:
to list contents of file.
This hasn't been well-tested and is fairly inflexible right now.
Feedback is welcome.

Yah, all the Apple users get all the luck, don't they?
