The beauty of it is also because I don't need to know anything about systemd. Based on my limited experience, the day2day use, the installation, hardware compatibility is just unmatched, let alone performance vs Windows on the same machine. I have 2 machines for kids, with one on mint and other macos. I think none of them knows what 'linux' is nor they care which machine to use. Thank you guys. Will donate.

  12. Is this a click bait or something? There aren't a lot of context in this article - of course you wouldn't need a degree for jobs that do not require higher level education/training (e.g. operations/maintenance, receptionist, book-keeper, security, janitor). And in the top 15 it has Costco, Whole Foods, Lowes, Home Depot, Publix, StarBucks, Nordstrom and Chipotle. Wow that's tons of insights.

  14. I'd say law should be applied consistently, but someone (judge?) can drop charges based on seriousness of it. I.e. the student should know what it actually means in real-world by all the charges, and judge should put lienacy towards it. Not charging him with all the appropriate crimes is not conducive to adjust the behavior.

  15. I'm unsure about the cloud data thing too, however, my experience with android is like yours but my perception is exactly opposite. I really do not want to learn about the android directory structure and file system. Where the hell are the files and songs...etc.? Which directory? OK I want to upload say bunch of .pdf or .doc for reading... Wow now it works like a DOS/PC. Now I'm not saying the 'local silo' way of managing app data is the best... and def. has short-comings. I gotta tell you though I do in fact have grave concern about Android's apps ability to touch files anywhere and get permissions for all sorts of stuff - data privacy really makes me nervous on Android.

  16. I totally don't buy this argument at all - basically you are saying ALL companies should make open platform and they can only sell open hardware and let people do whatever with it on software. Ability to 'fix their device' is as open as a house-hold appliance, dvd player, dish-washer - you can if you wish but making it 'hard to repair' is not intended for the purpose to prevent you to fix it. I see all these shops that can still replace Apple battery? I mean would you say the same thing about cars, toaster oven, TV? None of them are easily fixable.

I'm not sure why people are so "annoyed" or ticked about Apple. It does not serve any purpose to be 'ticked' which is the part I do not understand.
