Come on modders - you can call this insightful *maybe* but INFORMATION as in FACT? I gotta see the numbers: what tax breaks and benefits so significant that solar/wind power would be FREE, PAID FOR ENTIRELY BY THE SUBSIDY? Show me some calculation.
To further the point, the students should discuss the issue on twitter in quoting the word in question. E.g. "What do you guys think about xxx got expelled for using the word 'yyyy'?"
It all sound good but I'd wish this movement changes its name to something else other that pirate party. Not only it sounds like single issue but also immature. I can't imagine a party with such a name got elected official here in NA.
I think the technology is definitely immature. The glasses is an issue and the content available today is kind of force-fed to showcase 3D for no good reason (wow factor). What ultimately is needed is some 3D that is just subtle enough to aid real vision, not the kind of 3D effect that you see a missile flying at you. I.e. when you are watching a football game in person, you don't actually see the linebacker jumping into you, or do you?
... it has come down in prices since inception for sure. I have yet to own an BR machine but I just came across some recent release concert BR+CD combo is just $22. I'd prefer $5 but this is not too bad. I recall in the early days it's just stupidly expensive like upwards of $35-$40.
There's some truth to the 'screwed' developers comment, but nobody is forcing the developers to make apps for them. Really. And I'm not sure why "curated computing" is the worst thing ever... It almost sounds like computing is a religion or something. Same argument can be said that GUI 'curated' computing as well. You expect everyone to use a UNIX prompt or something?
Meh, farming is soooo passé. All the cool kids today are eating the food farmed by others. There are producers and consumers - what's so insightful about it?
Given ANY system, no one can stop the special interest group from pursuing of that special interest. This may not necessary be ideal but would you prefer the status quo?
A local electronics repairman responded to my comment similar to yours is "it's not because they're made in China, it's because what the company wants them to build." I think iPhone/iPad are pretty robust.
Apple is not a marketing company. Marketing is not Apple's business. They sell software and hardware. You can say they generate business using a lot of marketing dollar, or is very effective in marketing, but that doesn't make them a marketing company.
FWIW, Google is a marketing company.
The ironic part is, the monitoring speakers the mixers/producers used are in many case are cheaper than the audiophiles speakers/amps (and room treatment is so crucial - without it you really don't know wtf is with the bass). Audiophiles may argue that their speakers gives more 'detail', but then those detail are 'ignored' by the mixers/producers (well they are using cheaper/inferior speakers). On the other hand, you will never win an argument about which speakers is "warmer" : )
Totally agree. Just look at eldavojohn comment above - his argument is based on the two claims "home-grown" and "reverse engineering", which are nowhere to be found except the extremetech article itself. With the general/. populace sentiment, we DESERVE the patent system that we have because we're asking for it.
Agree - but I think there's a unspoken sentiment here that we'll eventually be trailing, because we enjoyed our fast food, SUVs, cheap toys too much that we forgot to catch up.
That's the issue - maybe people didn't realize, in addition to cheap toys and clothing, they're already getting their TV, cell phone, iWhatever from China?
Can't agree more - this is what western democratic capitalistic society gives us. It also gives us fast food, cheap gas, dollar store, cheap electronic gadgets, SUVs and suburbs.

I totally agree. The $80 I spend on original SC+exp (or WC3+exp) amount to almost nothing when I count the number of hours I spent on that thing.

...plus we got to buy cheap goods.
This doesn't apply to the political system. It's considered "bad" because voters can only change their mind every 4 years.

Your comment is very true though - if the viewer would like to 'simulate' the kind of experience on first row, then yeah let them feel like that.

Honestly if I'm her I'd walked off the podium. Still... absolutely hilarious.

...is to prove that it's also NP-complete, and in theory NP-hard problems can then be mapped to Mario Brothers and solved by avid gamers :)
Dude they gotta save something about front camera they can talk about when iPad 4 comes out.

If it's about annoying the speaker... just fire off Lady Gaga's latest hit directed at the speaker.

Seriously, this thing provides 12 Gbps backhaul alternate route in four years? Capacity of 10% of a single strand of fibre?
I think it's a great idea.
