Both are used for different things, though. If I'm multitasking with a game, I often don't wnat to play a game that takes a lot of concentration or constant action, so a strategy game usually works. In that same train of thought, if I have a 15 minute spot of time, I boot up an arcade emulator and play a game or two of Magical Drop 3. NOw, I've probably spent about 10-15 hours in that game, but not for more than 30-45 minutes at a time.
If I have a day to blow, I won't start a game and then beat it 10 times, I'll take a chunk out of a large game. Each have their own place.
But how different is the story between the good side and the evil side?
If they both have the same story, there'd be very little overall difference. (I've not played KotoR or KotoR2 to reference for the differences)
What the hell are you going on about? Just about everything you said is wrong or makes no sense.
First... 4-6 is the 'Island in the sky' story, as you call it. But... Why the hell are you bringing this up? How is Enix doing that any better or worse than Square? The links between the games are there, but mostly in name. But... Isn't that still milking for sequals?
And... Uh... DW7 was dumbed down? No? Unless you mean changes in translation (that weren't censoring, as DW7 didn't have any, AFAIK)...
IE for Macs is still stuck on 5.somethingorother.
It's never going to be updated.
Which is a very good thing and a very sad thing... The large majority of people that I've seen with macs use IE because that's the name they know... -_-
No, no... It sucks just as much (as Winamp, at least), trust me on that. Anecdotes =/= data, but... I find a lot of things that I can't do in iTunes that I want to do (That, admittedly, I can't do in Winamp either..), it tends to skip, it doesn't seem to want to play correctly (I've had it skip songs, stop playing in mid playlist, and not do random when I've turned random on), and supports just about nothing without downloading extra plugins for QT.
The only media player I can stand for real use is Foobar...
Will we be seeing more ink enabled forums in the future, or is Channel9's ink a novelty that will soon be forgotten?"
.. It will be the latter. This is just going to encourage people to write in illegible handwriting and make forums take EVEN LONGER to load due to EVEN MORE images. Ever looked at some forums? People need to seriously cut the avatars...
Even where images aren't incredibly common... I can't read most of the samples. Oops. What's a forum good for if you can't communicate?
I fail to see how more competition is always better, especially in this industry.
Because of more competition, owning all the consoles will probably cost more than $1000. Even if one waits for the consoles to drop in place, it'll still probably be $600-$700.... Not many people can afford that. Most people will probably only buy a single console and a single portable system. I'm one of those people, to be honest. I picked the console that has the most of the games I like, but there are still games for the consoles I don't have that I really want.
Aside from graphics and internet access (Which, all consoles have, but the XBox did do best), just about all the games from the current gen could be released on any of the consoles. How well a company works with developers and how easy a console to develop for is a factor, of course, but I believe that sans any one of the consoles (and Nintendo going third party console dev), we would still have seen the release of 99% of the games still seeing release.
And some just want a place to air their thoughts. It'd be incredibly stupid to make people that talk about politics in their blog (which covers a very wide range of things) register their blog, regardless of if they prefer to think of themselves as journlists or not.
This almost seems like... Katamari Nanotechnologiii~
And so, next to me...

Girls Got Game

· Score: 5, Interesting
Heh...
I find it sort of funny that a girl is gaming right next to me. PLaying stepmania on her laptop.
Of course, she also plays RPGs and MMORPGs and, like the article mentioned, Sims2.
I find it funny, though, that they talk about stereotypes... And then almost perpetuate them. Anecdotes != proof, but aside from FFXI and then one of my friends playing Sims... None of my female gaming friends fit the stereotype. They all play action games, and most of them love RE (Which, you know, is mentioned... But to me, those seemed to be portrayed as the exceptions to the rule in the article. *shrug*).
(Again, funnier, she turns to me and mentions how she beat her boyfriend in Halo over the weekend. Hahah...)
This is where you have to get creative with how you define educational. Linux is easy (Learning more about computers, and alternate operating systems); however, one could make a legitimate case for many things. Someone mentioned Red vs. Blue earlier as legally distributable video.... If you've taken ANY course on film, one could argue that RvB is a pioneer of new techniques and that you wish to study it. Same could be said for music, that you wish to study the technique or that the music has value in the lyrics.
Depending on how strictly things are actually screened, some skill in BS can take you far.
I'll just simply say... http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=143026&cid=119 84959, to the part about if Wikipedia pages are counted. I did wonder that at first, too, admittedly. I didn't know that the article cuont didn't include stubs, which make that number much more impressive.
Damn not ending my italic tag.
Actually, I sort of agree...

Truly depressing.
Yay to fucking up the planet!

FFX and FFXI were totally different games. One was offline and one was an MMORPG.
Wait, you mean FFX-2?
Then you're still VERY wrong. FFX and FFX-2 were VERY different games. Making them one game would NOT have worked.
Actually, I'm running it on OSX...
And... The newest version as of 10.3.8.
Stuff that programs like Trillian (Windows), GAIM (windows, Linux), Fire (osx), and Dead AIM (Windows, add on) have had for years.
And then VoIP? Skype...
Nothing new to see here, move along...

OO.o2 is going to ahve a database program.

If that ever happens, then THANK GOD for emulators.
Hell, it MIGHT actually give me time to catch up and beat all the games I already have...
I suppose the essence of my point was that one console that didn't have monopolistic properties (... Never happen) or just 2 consoles would be better.
Really, I suppose I'm just wishing for somethign that would never happen. Cheap gaming...
I'm hardly an audiophile and I have... Oh.. 3 times that? One can collect a lot of music pretty quick.
Photo editing, video rendering, heavy multi-tasking, as use in server box...
Of course. I just wanted to provide a counter point to more competition == good.

Solo won't shoot at all.
He'll have a badly redubbed over diplomatic way out of it...
Naaah. This'll be a good thing, if Lucas doesn't mess with his own work again.
