The problem with these internet shopping sites is that they are not telling you upfront that there are different prices for different people. That is what's wrong.

I like being in touch. At weekends, I'll check my email a couple of times per day. Basically, if I have internet access, I check it. But am I addicted? Do I start to sweat and shake if I don't check it? No. Do I get abusive if I don't check it? No. Do I feel severe anxiety if I don't check it? No.

I'm not a psychologist, but I think professionals will tell you there's a big difference between being addicted and just liking to do something a lot!

The ID card system would make things no different, except it might make life easier for people who travel back and forth between the US and UK a lot. The bottom line is, was, and always will be, this: if you're not doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about!
Everyone seems to think that they're so important that their government would watch every move they make! I have news for you: you're not that important unless you're a murderer/terrorist/filesharer! (the last one is still OK if you're French, apparently...)

My wife and I bought a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo a while back, but we had to return it within a couple of days. We're regular RPG players and we found the games nearly unplayable with the setup we bought. The problem was with the delay time between the movement signals being sent from the mouse and being recieved and acted upon by the computer. Our characters kept running into walls , falling off cliffs, etc! Granted, we didn't buy the most expensive set you can get but I can't imagine that there are any wireless mice that don't have a signal delay of some kind when compared to a "wired" one. We did some searching on forums online and found that many gamers have had the same problem. It seems like most of them go for top-of-the-range "wired" mice instead of wireless. So, just something to consider when you're shopping...

I think the common argument against your idea is that humans have the ability to think "outside the box". We can react to events in a near-infinite number of ways. For example, Apollo 13 would've failed miserably (assuming you can call it a "success") if it were robots on board instead of humans. AI has a long way to go before it can match our decision-making skills.

Having said all that, I tend to agree with you. Humans are a burden on these missions -- we may be flexible of mind, but we are not flexible of body, especially when considering the time-periods involved in travelling to other Solar System bodies. I think the success of the Mars rovers has proved that robots have a real future in space.

Do you mean you would like to be able to ask Google questions? Or do you mean you would like google to organise their answers the way Ask Jeeves does? If it's the former, you can do that anyway. Just enter the key words (not 'keywords') from your question into Google. All Ask Jeeves is is a search engine that allows you to enter 'How can I cure myself of VD?' and then strips out the common question words "how, "can", "I", "of", leaving a search query of 'cure myself VD'. I'm sure if you put those words into Google (minus any quote marks), the results would be similar to those of Ask Jeeves.
What most people like about Jeeves, is their layout of results -- not necessarily the results themselves.

That's why I think if the Supreme Court rule against P2P, they must also be ruling against VCRs, etc, which not only gos against their previous ruling but opens up a whole nasty can o' worms.

That's why I can't see P2P software "creators" losing this. We've all recorded songs off the radio and movies off the TV. The above case meant that the makers of our radio/casette players and (specifically) VCRs could not be sued for our actions. I can't see how the current case is different. Granted, the MPAA, RIA, etc, are losing more money per file shared than they were with recordings from TV/radio, but does that mean that breaking the law is OK as long as you aren't making too much profit from it? Can I go rob a bank if I promise not to steal more than $200? Unlikely.

Fact is, it's either illegal to distribute the 'tools' or it's not. If the Morpheus (e.g.) people can get sued then so should Sony/Panasonic/etc for all the movies we've recorded off the TV. Or is it that everyone is equal but some (read: P2P) are less equal than others?
