IIRC, TCP will send ACK packets to ACKnowlege received data, whereas UDP won't. TCP at least let's you confirm the data is getting through without checking in the application layer.
I just assumed everyone ~knew~ we'd be using UDP between planets...
Why isn't this modded funny? UDP is even worse than TCP: UDP provides no guarantees for message delivery and a UDP sender retains no state on UDP messages once sent onto the network. (For this reason UDP is sometimes expanded to "Unreliable Datagram Protocol".) Source

Last I heard, 8% of the US population had worked at McDonalds at some point in their life:)
According to Fast Food Nation, 1 in 8 Americans work at McDonald's at some point in their life. That statistic is high because it doesn't include people leaving McDonald's then getting re-hired.
I always thought that MPAA page looked like a joke, but it's the same as the one on LokiTorrent, which has been looking like that for quite a while now.
Aha! So I'm not crazy. It just appeared today for the first time. Google's cache from yesterday (3/22) does not include the link to hardware.slashdot.org in the left sidebar.
Actually, from what I gather, all you need to do is look at a special GIF image, and voila, your computer will execute any code embedded in the image. This vulnerability went public 13 days ago. I am unaware of this actually being exploited in the wild. See here and here.
Whoa. I did some math and the energy contained in any object with the mass of a VW Beetle (810kg) is enough to bring 217 trillion kilograms of water from room temperature to boiling.
FTFA: "We don't give cash to police officers,"
We'll give out cars, credit cards, movie screener tickets, anything but cash!

SCO is so not a threat they decided to delete the page. (404 Not Found)

Crack cocaine? We gotta start screening those engineers for drug tests.

Everyone knows indexing begins at zero!
Check out Magnatune. Motto: We're a record label. But we're not evil.
Microsoft doing something for their customers? That cracks me up every time.

Not many people know how to use DoorOSX or LinDoors, nor do they want to learn.
It was the best of packages. It was the worst of packages.
If the developers intentionally made it relatively easy to browse arbitrary content: thank you.
If your PHB is angry that you made a weak system, you could've used SSL. (Then leaked the private certificate =P)
The hardware section is new. It's debut was yesterday. Cliff probably didn't realize what was going on.

Am I really that unobservant or is the hardware section new?

This does not happen to me. Version String:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050323 Firefox/1.0.2
Freshly compiled and Gentoo optimized. BTW: I heard that Yahoo will be giving out 1GB accounts starting April.

I guess now we now for sure where the foundanion is headed. The new Netscape can probably take the place of a lot of the suite.
