i'm just glad professor john frink is finally getting his due. letting him name this probe and mission are going to do wonders for his career, what with the publicity and the notoriety and the ladies and the GLAVEN!!!!!
louis barron especially never got anything close to the recognition he deserved, as he was quickly outshone by Bob Moog and the like. great piece. the interview with bebe was heartrending.
i was pretty surprised that there was no mention of Lev Termen, though. any discussion of the "birth" of electronic music has to start with the theremin. doesn't it?
the problem is that this tactic is bound to do more harm than good. in a capitalist system, prices are determined by competition in a free market. by essentially competing with itself, dell is undermining purchaser confidence (see above) and probably reducing sales, hence reducing demand and, you guessed it, reducing profits.
hmmm.... interesting. i'd like to see some actual debate about this. not petty trolling/flaming, but people actually debating this. i'll try and kick it off.
i download "copyrighted" material, mostly music, mostly w/o paying. i also upload my own music (that i write/record/etc.)and share it freely.
i guess the main difference b/t what i do and what the ex-AOL guy did is i don't profit from any of my "harvesting" (or any of my musical endeavors, truth be told).
does the guy desreve to do hard time? probably not.
what we need is a radio time-shifting device to take us back in time to before Michael Powell and CLearChannel and others completely gutted the antitrust and media-aggregation laws.
interesting, but how will they deal with the inverse proportion of employee motivation?
70% of employees will want to work on the 10% of stuff that is "truly interesting to us."
when you're on tour, you gotta take it where you can get it...
my tour hand is strong!!!

in short, they're idiots.
Are we just going to have this continuing debate in which every side is inaccurately reduced to one slashdot-blurb-sized sound bite?
You mean there's another alternative? I don't follow.

yes. i'm sure.
i wasn't the intended recipient, but i was still amused by your homophonia.
