  1. Re:Priorities... on Sony's NGP May Be Delayed By Japan Quake · · Score: 1

Well Sony Computer Entertainment used to be a sub-division of Sony Music, so that makes sense.

"If smoking hot chicks that put out had to wear a scarlet letter, what's really so bad about that, if you are a guy?"

True. I'd personally like to easily know who all the sluts were.

Was the toaster running NetBSD? I can see how you'd get burned.

  4. Re:my rebuttal on Is Apple Killing Linux on the Desktop? · · Score: 1

This only works in Mac OSX. Doesn't work in Windows or Linux installed on the MacBook. Proprietary driver issues.

  5. Five more things... on Five Things You Can't Discuss about Linux · · Score: 3, Funny

I'm not sure if these are the five things, since the site is Slashdotted, but here's five more I've noticed you cannot discuss about Linux: 1. The negative effects of having multiple distros 2. The GIMP's interface 3. 3rd-Party games (though these days, there ARE a fair amount of good FOSS games) 4. BSD good, Gentoo for ricers 5. Fight Club

  6. Sony... on XM+MP3 Going to Trial · · Score: 1

This is ironic. Didn't Sony originally DEFEND the concept of personal recording with their Betamax VCRs? I believe that was a landmark case. I'll bet they (Sony) don't even remember they did that.

  10. Re:here on Five That Fell · · Score: 1

Sega is still around. They just gave up, and did their own thing. In essence, they are the Al Gore of videogame companies.

Working Designs. Now, there's a company that fell and will be missed.

    Actually, it wasn't.

And that "Xwand" was never an Xbox peripheral. The device existed, but in actuality it wasn't related to Microsoft at all and was meant for home appliances. The blogger who originally made it public is who decided to report that it was an Xbox accessory.

  13. Re:Look at it this way: on Nintendo To Dominate Next Generation? · · Score: 1

"Big N surely has patents on implementation methods but Sony in particular is famous for finding ways around that. Just food for thought."

Maybe you forgot what happened to Sony in regards to the dual-shock fiasco??

    "Cinematics Are Killing Gameplay?"

I could've told you that back in 1997 when Final Fantasy 7 came out, much to everyone's "ooh's" and "ahh's". No one listened to me.

  15. Re:Emotion Engine! on IBM's Radical Cell Processor · · Score: 1
But you are exactly right, the PS2 was supposed to herald a new CPU architecture that would be in every PC by now.
Do you mean the marketting term "128-bit Emotion Engine" or the 32-bit MIPS that is actual processor in the PS2?
  16. Re:but its the games... on IBM's Radical Cell Processor · · Score: 1
Kind of a dumb reason to avoid the PS3, considering that it was Sony BMG, wholly unrelated to the Sony games division, responsible for the rootkit.
Actually... Sony Computer Entertainmnet, Inc is a subsidiary of Sony Music...

  24. Interesting Analogy on SBC CEO: Pay up if you want to use our pipes · · Score: 1

Interesting how this is being compared to Ma Bell (AT&T), being SBC (owner of Cingular), bought AT&T and plans to rename itself to AT&T. Would be funny if they were officially called AT&T by the time the new lawsuits started.

Maybe we'll see Xerox come up with a new GUI pretty soon too...
