I went to a karaoke bar one time and the karaoke machine kept crashing every one or two songs. Then it would reboot, and lo and behold, it was a Windows Machine! All, it had to do was boot up and run one program without crashing! But it could not. However, for all I know the dude who ran it was downloading pr0n off Kazaa on the same machine when he got home.

I was just saying that tv shows which are 30 minutes or an hour of video would be priced more than mp3s that are 3 to 5 minutes long of just audio. The bandwidth alone required to host these shows for download would raise the cost. (Provided they don't decide to use bittorrent, but that would open a whole new can of worms.)

  3. Re:Price on Pay-Per-View Downloads of TV Shows? · · Score: 1

I never said that is what I'd pay for TV downloads. I don't have any need to with my TV tuner card. I was merely speculating at what the "industry" would charge to let users download shows from the internet based on the music prices they charge. And being that its MY speculation im sure I am wildly wrong.

  4. Price on Pay-Per-View Downloads of TV Shows? · · Score: 4, Insightful

There is no way each show would cost a dollar, or only 10 bucks a month. Mp3s cost more per song and they are trying to raise the price, and Napster charges 15 bucks a month I believe. Look for it in the 5 bucks per and 40 bucks a month range. (Kinda the same as it costs to get TV anyway.)

It is good that after all the media news about Firefox actually having a security issue that the team moved to correct it, even if very short term. Unfortunetly I don't think this will get as much media coverage as the previous stories on it, but it is a step in the right direction. So, at least we don't have to wait for a fix, they will disable the issue, fix it, then reinable it. Sounds like good software development to me.

I just find it a sad commentary on society that violence is more acceptable than nudity.
I'll agree. There are gunfights and murders on free tv, but if you expose those god-forsaken breasts, you have to be on HBO. Cable can't even do it. I've thought a lot about this because I feel that violence is much worse than nudity. But that's just my opinion. In our wonderful Puritan American society, sex and nudity are seen as "private", while violence is on the evening news and seen as a "public" act. Nudity is meant to be private and not seen by anyone, and violence occurs in the public realm. Thats the way it has been classified and that is the way it will stay.

It comes down to a difference in ideals. Some like playing the game, some just want a shorcut to profit and destruction.

So, would these video games keep improving over time without competition? Or is that a bit too idealistic of me? Secondly, would this go towards a video game update system with the new players and teams adding through a service pack? Would that make it too much M$ Windows? This could be made easier when all gaming consoles are online, but all of the fun is the new additional features. However, could this be covered with a service pack at a "nominal" fee? There is some good and some bad to this.

The EA MLB offering from 2004 is quite good, and I would hate to see it just turn into Bad News Baseball. Each companies baseball and football offerings wouldn't be playing on level playing fields.
