  1. real on Real Worried About Apple Lawsuits · · Score: 0

when i was on windows, i hated real purely for the fact that they felt the need to keep a background process open on my computer even when their application wasn't launched, which for a media player i found a bit cheeky (i don't think it does on linux, but can't check now as i have it open anyway, correct me if i'm wrong) . however, if it wasn't for the fact that they have a linux version, there would be a whole lot of stuff on the net i wouoldn't get to see, mainly the radio which is far better than the normal airways because i can cut out chart shows and the like. i know that a lot of people go "grah real media format sucks, kill it" and if thats the case then maybe so, i don't know the finer technical viewpoints, but the one that really needs to be given the chop is windows media. i know there are workarounds for codecs for them and such, but it's a royal pain in the arse. at least real is available on all formats. all streaming sites please, use anything other than wmv.

safe mode in IE, tabbed browsing, RSS feeds.. ok that covers what got stolen from firefox. translucent windows - thats OSX from what i have been led to understand (i haven't seen it apart from on KDE, i don't own a mac). So basically vista has viewed (how apt) what the public loves elsewhere and nicked it. other than these couple of new featuers it's a slow version of XP, yawn. oh and whoever said about ie that one of it's features was
    "easy history deletion."

  8. never going to happen on What is Mainframe Culture? · · Score: -1, Troll

the reason this will never happen is the main difference is that windows programmers are used to working for an evil company that subverts your privacy, and don't care, not to mention anything about coding techniques, wheras the unix side of things is generally filled by people who found out all these things and did care. bill wants monopoly and will keep changing the goalposts of compatability to make things rough. And just like the terrible government you Americans have, i don't think the public is going to do anything about it, even though they are informed enough, mostly (admittedly more about the government than microsoft, but still..).

WEED IS NOT HEROIN OR CRACK ffs. he does not need drug rehab. if alcohol were discovered today and judged on the amount of damage it does to you and how addictive it is, it would be a class A drug. weed (here in England) is only a class C drug, the same classification as a prescription drug. pull your head out of your ass and start to think without prejudice
