see aforementioned post as to the point of the seriousnous of this. it was more a case of trespassing in someones house who had left the back door open. not burglary, and certainly not murder. way to over-react.
If they leave the big red button there with no security around it or guards, eventually someone is going to push it simply because they can. This guy could have actually been destructive, and took their network down. He didn't. spare me the "yadda yadda it was very serious" replies, anyone with a glint of technical knowledge knows it wasn't.
Hail the new american slogan, "It isn't fascism when we do it!"
I've seen this guy in interviews. A clever man, who obviously has a lot more to give to the world. Shame he's going to get disappeared.
love the game. got as far as the robot suit in the back of the club. been capped by the police about 4 times (i couldn't help but attack civilians). keep up the good work:)
and me and the tech were both sat there jumping up and down screaming "BUFFER OVERFLOW! BUFFER OVERFLOW!" when the nsa walked in and said "you're our boy"
"This personal browser tool permits users to clip text, images, and links from the pages they're browsing, save them to an online 'notebook' that is accessible from any computer, and share them with others."
for example, if you are a chinese journalist, your files could be shared with the authorities.
i don't trust google anymore i'm afraid.
"hmm, maybe they dont want their kids on a computer, maybe the idea of giving 3rd world countries is oversteping the boundaries, how would you like it if they forced a a mud hut on you?
and with that sir, you pass the tard test. i no longer have to speak to you. If you were wondering...
i didn't say tell me a way to have a bsd distro such as DSLinux - i said show me one
don't give em that shit about mud hats, we both know that's a load of bullshit. "force a mud hut on me" ?
i don't even know where to begin...i think if i continue to talk to you i will have an aneurysm.
no it's not.
personally, i'm a links man, just as the anonymous coward below states. don't give me this macho unix posturing of "ooh i'm hard cos i only use the commandline", this laptop is meant for children. they want a web browser as their first contact with a pc like all the other children in the world. links or (god forbid) lynx would bore the crap out of them. Won't someone please think of the children!
oh yeah, show me a bsd distro that has a desktop in X and a browser that can handle pictures - weighing in under 50mb like damn small linux can.
dude, you're an idiot "It takes forever to start Linux on a PC compared to Windows98. And after giving the command to shut down, it scrolls dozens of lines of incomprehensible text showing its 'shut down process'. And all the distributions that I've tried work like this. I feels like I'm shutting down the entire Pentagon.
Jeez, guys, this is supposed to be an appliance. It doesn't take three to five minutes to shut of a color TV set.
Linux isn't going to be taken seriously until you'all fix this shit. A PC should be ready to work with within five seconds of power on and should shut off within three seconds."
you're comparing modern day linux to a windows from 8 years ago. of course it will run fucking faster. if you run xp it has the same problem. And as for this switching it on and off within three seconds, windows hasn't achieved that yet either. I know some users think it's "ok" to do that though, then become puzzled when they lose all their files. sigh, anyway what was your username again? *clickety click*
nanobsd is for appliances, i don't even know if it comes with a desktop. this is meant to be for the third world $100 laptops, which i will expect they wish to have a web browser on at least.
i've noticed the same thing. maybe they will have to stick to something like Damn Small Linux, but i bet someone has already pointed this out.
some linux releases are bigger than windows, especially as they are shipping new versions sooner, but at least there is this stripped down one for pc's that are meant to be 'obselete' such as reclaimed hardware in charitable organisations.
it would always be the right time, if only for the possibility that the bomb drops and we have to live a mad max style existance scavenging and fighting over laptop batteries and petrol in old stores throughout the land. If that happens, i wanna be able to read uncyclopedia at the end of the day.
If it didn't happen i would be like the guy who loses his glasses in that old story and can't read even though he has eternity "but there was time now..." or whatever.
the equivalent to dir *.*/s on linux is ls -a (the a meaning All i presume). As for your drive not showing up, is it mounted? if you don't know what i mean go to a terminal and type "man mount" without the quotes. that should get you started on learning that. good luck with that hello world program...
i know what you mean about americans...especially american linux zealots as someone who has lived a double windows/linux life. don't even get me started on the bsd crowd. i've often thought and still do that one of the biggest barriers to linux acceptance is some of the people who are meant to promote it. i'm thinking some irc channels in particular.
all i do is just keep telling myself "it's only the internet, it's only the internet", and as you said, at least i do have real life friends... i see you occasionally have problems with malicious modders too, i'll have to not rise to the bait anymore myself...look after yourself mate, might see you in another thread
cheers, glad someone is enjoying it:) i hate being misunderstood and usually end up posting after i've been out on the lash when i reply to stuff. all these people just jumped on me to nitpick so that they could try and make themselves look better. are they really that hard up for knowledge that they want to lecture me about ".." and "." ?
crazy and petty. but now that i know someone else see's the ridiculousness of it too makes it less coronary inducing
Your ignorance is actually stunning. The Windows explorer doesn't have current directory and previous directory shortcuts listed because they're superfluous in a GUI interface. They're only useful in a command line context and would be screen clutter otherwise.
ah i see in your next reply you state what i was saying to your first. anyway...
quotestaken out of context. and you still miss my point. the point i'm making is not about the shell. the point is about the explorer, the graphical way of looking through files. i can't be arsed ton show you the screen shot where windows doesn't have either ".." or "." in it but linux does. i'm bored of this now, fuck off
doh indeed. christ how many idiots do i have to explain this to. i said WINDOWS USES IT. GO REREAD WHAT I SAID. i was talkiing about the GRAPHICAL LOOK AND FEEL whicj resembles linux highly, and windows not at all
also, you mention how people would use dos because it is free. HELLO, LINUX IS FREE RETARD.also, when you use an explorer in windows, there is no ".." and "." in the explorer.dos does not have a graphical explorer.
linux does and has this attribute. i bet you are just some idiot windows fanboy who's never seen a bash shell

hehe, lack of use of the preview button strikes you too :)
i must comfortably because i find myself quite often having to loosen my trousers while using the computer
well if Gary McKinnon can get in your system after smoking a lot of cannabis at the time
i'd say they need to hire some new I.T. staff
