    the ship can easily hover. it's got engines. also, you are talking about geostationary orbits, not the more generic geosynchronous orbits.

    assume the space ship is a helicopter, but just higher. it pushes itself straight up and can hover over a spot. drop something out of the helicopter, and it will fall at 1g. straight down.

    if the drill was stationed directly above drill point and was not moving relative to it, then it would fall at 1g toward the drill point when it disconnected from the ship. it's not very complicated.

    Lack of documentation only chains you more to a developer. It makes it that much harder for someone else to maintain the code base.

    just have a very bank of batteries at the gas station underground that can discharge that fast into the car, and the bank can be charged at reasonable amperages from the power line. sort of like gas stations are made today, but with batteries instead of tanks.

    it was relevant as a reply to the parent of my post. the parent said that an ordinary laptop should be able to survive the fall if only the harddrive is replaced, and I don't believe that to be true.

    most lcds are definitely not designed to withstand 4ft drops.

    I'm pretty sure if you have the original firmware on the g1 as well, it cannot access paid apps? Only the newest g1 firmware allowed paid app access.

    Like it's been said before in the comments, it is only the default dev phone firmware that cannot download paid apps. the phone itself is not locked out from downloading.

    this firmware for example will allow paid app downloads. http://andblogs.net/2009/02/new-adp1-update-official-with-google-voice-and-more/

    google developers DO NOT need to spend more money than the average consumer

    From what I'm told, you can install the tmobile g1 firmware on your phone and it can download paid apps just fine. that way you have the same exact functioning as an enduser and can test the way an enduser would test. does that alleviate your concerns?

    It's only the nontmobileg1 builds that do not have access to paid apps

    if this is wrong, someone please let me know.

    Do you really believe that not being able to buy paid apps on non t-mobile firmware constitutes as shitting on your developers?
