Helped in my home. I couldn't countenance paying over $100 for something that ony played more expensive movies. However I was definately a console player, so I bought a PS2. Then I started buying/renting dvds. Then my folks (I was 16 at the time) wanted to be able to watch all the movies I bought / rented, so they bought a player. It did help speed things up, though I imagine we would've bought the player eventually anyway.

Alas, they cannot even figure this out. I used to work as a mechanic. I can;t count the number of blown engines, transmissions, differentials because people never changed anything but the oil, and sometimes not even that. That's why I quit and came back to computers. I can't train them, but at least I can take care of all my clients computers and not have to fix them.

I actually use a small company in the area which gets their connection through XO. The customer service I receive is great. And it's a microwave connection 1 mbps up and down for $80/mo. Not bad, since I could cancel $20/mo dailup and $40/mo phone line. Static IP so I don't even need a dynamic dns system. Runs my server great (no link for the slashdot horde, until I upgrade to the following). I'm going to upgrade to the 3 mbps up and down (each) for just $150/mo. I think it's a great deal since I live in the boonies. Cable TV won't even reach me... which is no loss to me. I'm luckey they run power out that far...

Do you donate to all the webcomics and flash cartoons you view? Those go straight to the creators. What about here on slashdot, do you subscribe? That goes straight to the creators. Do you donate when you find a usefull F/OSS app? I donate when I enjoy a program. I fact I think I'm going to donate again to Gentoo, just because I find it so useful. There are many means of donating directly to the creator, and as more people do it, the method will spread more. So please donate to these people, if don't. Oh, and if you don't, then I call BS on your entire post because of this line:

Not really. Just cause my friend flushed his pot down the toilet while his house was being raided and the cops didn't find it doesn't mean he didn't have it. The same thing could've happened with the WMD. Oh, and they did find all the preparation in place. And ballistic chemical warheads, just waiting to be filled. You just won't hear about it on the news. Do I think that Bush is doing the right thing? Yes. Do I think it could be done better? Yes, just hand control of the action away from the politicians into the hands of the Marine Corps. It'd be done by now. And we wouldn't have to worry a Kaddafi, either. I'm all for world peace, but not at the cost of the freedom for fellow humans. I value the freedoms of others as highly as I do my own, which is why I write monthly letters to my Congresscritters telling them not to pass various things coming up for vote the infringe upon my rights. When they do, I vote against them the next time. That's the way things work. And the day they try to peel ANY of the bill of rights away is the day I protect myself by organizing demonstrations of whatever caliber necessary. As should any man. But for those less forunate, I think 2000 soldiers lives is a small price to pay for the freedom of millions, and safety of all of us. As for the live and let live policy, we tried that, and had 8 attacks against us during Clinton's era. It didn't work, not because we were opressing them, but because our WAY OF LIFE offends them. And I'm not going to change that. Because I don't have to. And they CANNOT make me.

BTW, the pic was of one of the hundreds of mass graves in Iraq filled during Saddam's regime, and the primary reason we went to Iraq, if you actually go back and listen to the original speech Bush gave on going into Iraq and why we needed to do it.
