Scripts. Scripts allow users to create and play any sequence of DVD discs, movies, trailers, episodes, favorite scenes, home videos, cover art, and other Scripts. This makes it easy to incorporate customized movie openings and intermissions for a truly personalized theatrical experience.
I would imagine if Apple made Quartz Composer available to the end user on this thing, it would be an insidiously powerfull, usefull, and fun thing to play with.
Seeing how Sony has never been very good at writing thier own software, I think it's a safe assumption that the Monstrosity that is SonicStage (Sony's horrible music library software for the net walkman and minidisc line) is probably rife with GPL violations also. I personally wouldn't want to see Sony go tits up over this, but it would be nice for them to take a little more responsibilty for software they do release in the future.
I'm sure the RIAA told Sony it would be a swell idea to try to pull this off. I've never considered Sony evil, but seriously missinformed about what consumers will tolerate. Heck, it took them over 15 years to realize that DRM was what was killing the sales of the miniDisc. Now that they've allowed them to play mp3s outright, they're going to drop the entire miniDisc line. Tragic.
Seeing how Apple's business model revolves mostly around hardware sales, I can understand why they'd go to such lengths to keep people from installing it on any computer they want.
I seem to recall many years ago that microsoft had to pay a small developer a rather large sum of money (well, large to the developer) for the use of the name Bookshelf.
Ahhh, but I can download hardcore smut with a usenet reader on my Pocket PC. All with one hand, and anywhere in (or outside) my house. You can't get much more usefull than that. (evil grin)
he wants to project phones as an extension but not a replacement of a portable music player
That just doesn't seem like a good plan. 5 years ago, people were juggling 2 seperate devices (a pda and cell phone), but the market share of non-cellphone type PDAs are dwindleing rather quickly.
With battery life, LCD screen density, and processor power increasing, technology currently allows for all 3 devices to happily occupy the same small space for a lower overall price.
I've had the ability to kill services (daemons), upgrade them, and restart them without rebooting the system for years.

"Hello yanks?"
Ya know, we like that term about as much you like being called a limey bastard.
I remember when I was in college, all we could do to waste time was to get drunk and stoned.
With as much spam as I get, I already use a friggin ad supported Windows.

"Oh no. It wasn't the asteroids. T'was beauty that killed the beast!"
If they went extinct living near humans, they probably tasted like chicken.
"What's for dinner Honey?"
"Gigantopithecus"
"ugh... again?"
I've used JBidWatcher a lot for sniping, which relies on HTML scraping, and I'm glad we can move away from that.
Unfortunately eBay's API is not allowed to be used for sniping software. (or at least it wasn't as of 2 months ago)

Sounds to me like asymetrical encryption similar to code certificates in the .NET platform.

You know.... boys have dwicks, girls have twarts.
If they'd not gunned for the kiddie games company role (which has always been a failing of Nintendo...)...
Failing? No. Gunning for the kiddie games is what kept Nintendo at the top of the portable gaming console market for well over a decade.
Is this a bad thing that it's a dupe? if it were an analog message, we wouldn't have been able to dupe it.
And all they have to do is reverse the flow of the current and they have one REALLY big fan boat..... vroooom!
news for Nerds
Oh dear. I thought that said news for herds . No wonder no one's been talking about cattle all these years.
I guess it would have been cruel irony to have Hurricane Xuxa (http://www.who2.com/xuxa.html) ravage Latin America.

You think that's bad? Support for Compact Framework in Windows Mobile 2003 SE has more holes in it than a box of cheerios.
