    Scripts. Scripts allow users to create and play any sequence of DVD discs, movies, trailers, episodes, favorite scenes, home videos, cover art, and other Scripts. This makes it easy to incorporate customized movie openings and intermissions for a truly personalized theatrical experience.

    I would imagine if Apple made Quartz Composer available to the end user on this thing, it would be an insidiously powerfull, usefull, and fun thing to play with.

    Seeing how Sony has never been very good at writing thier own software, I think it's a safe assumption that the Monstrosity that is SonicStage (Sony's horrible music library software for the net walkman and minidisc line) is probably rife with GPL violations also. I personally wouldn't want to see Sony go tits up over this, but it would be nice for them to take a little more responsibilty for software they do release in the future.

    I've used JBidWatcher a lot for sniping, which relies on HTML scraping, and I'm glad we can move away from that.

    Unfortunately eBay's API is not allowed to be used for sniping software. (or at least it wasn't as of 2 months ago)

    I'm sure the RIAA told Sony it would be a swell idea to try to pull this off. I've never considered Sony evil, but seriously missinformed about what consumers will tolerate. Heck, it took them over 15 years to realize that DRM was what was killing the sales of the miniDisc. Now that they've allowed them to play mp3s outright, they're going to drop the entire miniDisc line. Tragic.

    Sounds to me like asymetrical encryption similar to code certificates in the .NET platform.

    Seeing how Apple's business model revolves mostly around hardware sales, I can understand why they'd go to such lengths to keep people from installing it on any computer they want.

    Failing? No. Gunning for the kiddie games is what kept Nintendo at the top of the portable gaming console market for well over a decade.

    Ahhh, but I can download hardcore smut with a usenet reader on my Pocket PC. All with one hand, and anywhere in (or outside) my house. You can't get much more usefull than that. (evil grin)

    That just doesn't seem like a good plan. 5 years ago, people were juggling 2 seperate devices (a pda and cell phone), but the market share of non-cellphone type PDAs are dwindleing rather quickly.

    With battery life, LCD screen density, and processor power increasing, technology currently allows for all 3 devices to happily occupy the same small space for a lower overall price.
