I don't see why that's outside the scope of Wikipedia. A video of the disaster could fall under "historically accurate [depiction] of what happened." I agree that lectures would be a bad idea, but some full-length videos are very informative and useful for research purposes.
Right, because there is only One Top Spot. Yo-Yo Ma, the world's foremost cellist, does not compete with Joshua Bell, a professional violinist, or Barack Obama, the leader of a powerful nation.
When anyone hears the name "Bill Gates", what pops into your head? Microsoft. Who's been made a very rich man by Microsoft? Bill. If Bill has a good reputation, Microsoft's will be better, and vice-versa.
Oh, come on. Google wants to make information easily available: that's a great goal. If they can make money on it, great. They still can't publish for-pay material, and they won't unless they pay for it. When's the last time that Google ripped off copywritten material?
Besides, lots of people (like me) are very happy with the traffic that Google generates to their sites.
It's just like I originally thought - they're copying all the UI stuff from Firefox to try and catch up, without any of the needed rendering fixes... those freaking bastards. And the UI design is terrible. The placement of the address bar and the refresh button make no sense. And the menu below the tab bar? What's that? I thought IE6 was bad, this looks a lot worse.
1. Come on. A piece of foam almost killed everyone on a rocket for the second time. Can't they be more careful? 2. I don't want my tax money going towards this. Private companies are doing better. If the government didn't suck the life out of my bank account, I'd be more than willing to donate money to a company that has a competent space program.
I don't see what's wrong with using a program like GAIM to use AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, etc accounts. That's what I do. My only qualm is that GAIM sucks donkey balls in many cases (see their controls for writing new away messages for multiple accounts). Speaking of which, are there any good IM programs for Windows? I've heard Kopete is good on Linux and Fire for Mac, but all Windows has is GAIM.
This requires user action and piracy. No one can -ever- claim that -any- computer is safe from, essentially, social engineering.
The best commentary I've heard on profanity laws and censorship. Thank you, sir or ma'am.

Mod parent up. I think Jobs realizes that he must compromise sometimes.
"with the only caveat being a link to buying the movies and TV episodes from Amazon"
Am I the only one who views this as a service, not a caveat? Link = resource.
That's the idea that for someone to succeed, someone else has to fail. It's an outdated idea and it's been disproved by basic economic theory.

This is the first time I've seen a post titled "Anal" modded +5 Insightful.

I don't know if any of those are good, but it's a start.
I'm shocked. I'll never look at the Bush administration the same way again.
Didn't a few revisions of iTunes 7 also cause a lot of problems on Windows? Apple seems to have trouble delivering Windows software recently.
Pretty hard. "200-man" comes more naturally than "200-person".
Plus politically correct people suck.

.... and your Windows machine has 64 MB of RAM, whereas your SuSE machine has 2 gigs?
But seriously, your example means nothing without some system specs.
I wonder what parts of them, exactly, are giant?
Wait... how does that make sense? Why would Google masquerade their desktop search utility as a browser?
Wait... how does that make sense? Why would they want to take over the browser market with a desktop search utility?
Slashdot is an open forum for discussion. When's the last time you could dicuss the latest news on Yahoo! or CNN?

NASA has just narrowly avoided another tragedy.
I have two things to say.
1. Come on. A piece of foam almost killed everyone on a rocket for the second time. Can't they be more careful?
2. I don't want my tax money going towards this. Private companies are doing better. If the government didn't suck the life out of my bank account, I'd be more than willing to donate money to a company that has a competent space program.
I got the email at 1:52 AM this morning... I'm surprised no one submitted the story until just now.
Yeah, talk about surprise butsekz....

Boycott the government for abusing their own legal system.... US vs Microsoft.
