    Much easier to repair when broken, and that lends itself better to donations of old equipment.

    Most of these families do not have a power source in their home. These laptops can be charged by hand.
    Also, I believe internet access is supposed to be supplied via wireless so the old equipment would have to be outfitted for wireless.

    For the U-bend to evaporate would take weeks or months probably. Even the slightest drip should more than counter the evaporation.

    This is only true if the plumbing is vented properly. When water or waste goes down a drain air is
    needed to assist otherwise a vacuum is created. Venting provides the air. Most likely there is a
    toilet on the same waste pipe that is sucking the P trap dry.

    Even better, if you have a friend in another vehicle, ample fun may be had by having the lead driver pull into the constricted lane, blocking the impatient buggers and forcing them to merge sensibly, with the following driver allowing just enough space for the lead driver when the constriction starts.

    I live in Michigan and will often do this with Semi's in areas of road construction. I'll usually flash my lights to the semi and will try to maintain a consistent speed. Usually getting through the construction goes a lot faster. However sometimes drivers from other cities ... (Cough Cough Chicago) will drive on the shoulder and sometimes the grass to get around us.

    What bothers me is usually in road construction, there is usually 2 miles advanced warning of lane closure yet people feel that waiting in line is beneath them and wait until the last minute to merge. Usually SUV drivers

    Your local Radioshack should deal in Sprint, I work at one

    I used to work at one while I was in college. Sprint has done a really good job at improving there network
    The spiffs used to be really good to sell a phone ($15-$20 each).
    However I will not miss selling cell phones. I recall having an older lady buy a phone from me and come back 2 hours later
    screaming bloody murder. She thought that her cell phone was broke because it did not have a dial tone!

    I know embryonic stem cells are a good source for research. However, I have heard that adult stem cells (somatic stem cell) are also becoming easier to harvest. Is there any difference in these types of cells?

    Isn't somatic stem cell research ok in the U.S.?

    The biggest improvement I got in shaving was when I stopped using shaving cream (while using Mach 3)
    Your not alone with this approach. The Mach 3 is by far the best razor. It seems the more blades you add, the more difficult cleaning is as well.

    The article is entitled "Why Microsoft Can't Compete With iTunes" My point was, is the competition over? They may not be able to compete today. However most of their success comes from being the underdog. The Apple OS was more successful before Microsoft's OS dominated. Lotus / Word perfect were more dominate than MS Office in the begining.

If you're doing simple modifications of a large codebase that uses many large APIs, then an IDE is handy for navigating all that stuff. If you're doing difficult, critical work that depends on a small or nonexistent set of external APIs, then a text editor will keep you honest and not help you code when you aren't ready yet."

    Why did this get modded flamebait? Some good points are made here

    In large projects IDE's are very helpfull. However it would be nice if VS 2005 could run under 80 mb of memory when idle.

    1) I learned the hard way to never sell a cell phone to an older customer unless they have used one before or I have time to
    train them on how they work. Case in point. I sold a flip phone (Samsung 3500 I believe) to an older lady. I activated the phone for her, made a test phone call and then the lady left. She returned 2 hours later absolutely livid. She complained the phone was garbage and "Doesn't even have a dial tone". I explained that cell phones do not have dial tones and it fell on deaf ears.

    2) Customer purchased a COMPAQ from the store and returned it because he smelled a rancid smell. Turns out a mouse gained access to the box and was rotting dead by the heatsink.
