Now Mr Corporate is not a bad guy and he'll do something nice if he thinks it will make him some money, but usually, he ends up having to apologize for it because when he does things like that they always lack sincerity.

It's like apologizing after facefucking someone, you still did it and the act of apologizing doesn't make the errant facefuck any more sincere so you will continue to enjoy facefucking others.

The thing is, if you don't like being facefucked, you shouldn't agree to the terms of a facefucking service and be surprised when you get a sincere facefuck.

You mean OFDM? Try googling "who invented OFDM". It dates back to the 60s. I am one of the authors of 802.11 and 802.16 that both use OFDM. So are many other Slashdot readers.

I am honored to make your acquaintance.

As stated though, it seems the CSIRO invented the chips that made wi-fi commercially viable and invented the methods that provided the refinements required adequate throughput of data via wi-fi. I think the courts in the US decided in the CSIRO's favor and the article suggests that it was the CSIRO's management that decided to pursue the credit and much needed financial royalties associated with the invention.

Are you saying they are lying? Mindful of your contribution, which I accept, is there a reason to minimise Australia's achievements?

They did not, because the people who invented the relevant bits of Wi-Fi and brought them to the IEEE invented them before CSIRO did.

Certainly Australia probably doesn't have the innovative capacity of larger countries like the US/UK and Canada but for a country of 25 million but we do make significant contributions for a country whose conservative party is constantly ripping apart research and development funding and forcing us to be more dependent on other countries. 5 Billion dollars a year was taken from the IT sector alone way back in the nineties so any criticism of Australia's capacity to innovate is not indicative of our past performance, current capacity or future ability but the performance of our politicians whose vision for Australia is to be the worlds coal mine.

It wouldn't be the first time we've been made to wait for everyone at the finish line and wave them all past. In the meantime those of us who care will be forced to read this bill to understand what restrictions will be place on the capacity to innovate in the business sector now.

Learn? Learn? LEARN? Liberal fantasies about Western colonialism are flatly contradicted by the entire rest of history.

Liberalism was pointing to Islam for human rights abuses that you didn't care about many years before it was attached to any terrorism threat. The issue is how legislators react to it and clamp down on civil rights for all citizens that achieve the goals for the terrorists.

This narrative unfolds because of a black flag with arabic writing in white. Instead of being handled by the normal criminal codes and all the things we learned from the UK forces interacting with the IRA as 'some loony holding people hostage', all of the new terrorism protocols are activated and it becomes a global news event.

If you stop playing politics for a moment you will see that this is the obvious outcome of how we deal with these situations and how easy it is to manipulate our feeble politicians into pushing our democracies into a full police state.

Might be referring to the numerous sting operations bordering on entrapment where the prime impetus for a group of would-be terrorists turns out to be an undercover federal agent encouraging them to cause trouble.

The police here were using illegal spyware to infiltrate peoples computers to capture data, instead of using the legal processes available to them, to reveal some "potential" attacks. They then whipped up a media frenzy to garner support to pass new security legislation that would legalize the use of such methods. Of the 16 "suspects" 15 were released without charge and a 16th on a minor charge.

This sort of thing is what that legislation was supposed to prevent.

Absolutely! It's a fine line we have to walk because on one side we have Islam with significant human rights abuses and on the other intelligence agencies carrying out false flag operations and blaming it on them.

The enhancements to the National Security Act passed in October and was supposed to stop this sort of thing. It was passed on the back of a media shitstorm over some 15 alleged assailant who were all released without charge and one on minor charges. Meanwhile 99.99999% of the population bares the cost.
