  1. Re:Doesn't Work on New Technique For Making JPEG Images Copy-Evident · · Score: 2
I tried it with gimp and it worked. Open the image, save at 60% quality, and the VOID is quite visible. Perhaps it's libjpeg's compression they're relying on. (I assume that's what gimp uses; I haven't actually checked.)

However, the method is easily defeated. Open the image, scale it to twice its size, then scale back down to the original size, and save at 60%. No watermark appears.

Here you go: Let's say you want to have sex with Natalie Portman (NP). Up until now, it was generally assumed that meant you had to satisfy three conditions: be rich, handsome, and fascinating. Unfortunately, any one of those would leave out the vast majority of people on this list; satisfying all three (3-SAT) was considered virtually impossible.

But now, Romanov claims that it is sufficient merely to say the mathematical equivalent of "Please" (P). Naturally, people are skeptical.

I doubt seriously they "broke" any encryption. If there were any serious encryption on the disks, it wouldn't be breakable in such a short time period.

More likely, in that case, is that Google just provided them the keys, but they thought it sounded cooler to say they "broke" the encryption.
