What about in the instances of children? Don't they have rights that we as adults do not?
There's just to many things that go against this. I think this is a part of the shitty things that arre happening in our country. I'm not against it, but I don't understand why it's all of a sudden important. How many problems have they had in airports since 9/11? But see how all the security keeps getting stiffer.
This would have been much more sucessful, had they just implimented it, and never told anyone about it, like everything else they do. That they did not do it that way, makes me think there's a reason to let us know.
Even though this is a article on what would appear to be a way around deminsia, it seems like a good idea.
I think the real cause of deminsia is something to do with the ability to accept change, in dealing with "generation gaps" but that's another story.
Honestly though, how many of the folks were expecting there to be 11 steps laid out before us? Is that maybe because we live in a day and age where we expect to not have to USE our brains?
I have a buddy of mine that is taking on-line classes. He has a math class. All he does is Google whatever the problem is, and BAM! there it is, the answer. This surely doesn't help him out at all. I notice that most people that keep their brains busy, even if with simple things, they often seem fresh, and light. These people don't usually end up with brain problems.
There is a part of the brain, like in Windows Documents and Settings, where the internal workings of the computer (controled by the computer) and the outer workings of the computer (controled by the user) combine. I think in our lives, we try to often over-rule the automatic, intuitive, and natural parts of our brains. Like in Windows, if you do this to an exessive extent, you could damage the natural flow of the way things work.
The more you understand the natural occurance of things, the less reality weighs on you.
I seriously doubt that all they did was test power grids, and hospitals, and tall buildings for security measures. They probably wanted to just make sure that the systems that control our missles and bombs and shit like that were locked down pretty good.
...In other news, President Bush is instructed to NOT write his e-mail password on Cheney's ass anymore.
"It's like condemning people for driving too fast after selling them cars that go 250 kmh."
Yeah, he's right. So why do I have all these past speeding tickets?
Really though, I know this is common thought amung most people, but it is not the same. Speeding in a car might be illegal, but sometimes it's necissary. Not the same with downloading music. This was never a problem when VCR's came out with the double-deck, where you could directly copy one tape to another. They just put that little FBI warning at the begining stating basicly, "If you copy this, and sell it, we must break you". The downloading that is done by, um those other bad people, isn't gaining them anything. I mean, they can hear the music, that's all. Unless they attempt to sell it as the original, I don't see the difference. It would be like fining people for driving around with their music to loud, er wait, they do that, but not for copyright infringement.
Even though I can't understand this from any point except for how it is looked at from the viewpoint of a worried musician, who lacks the balls to think that their music will still sell.
My point, though probably not explained very well, is that we have the physical ability to do certain things. If we are givin that ability, and then penalised for the use of it, then I really think we need to re-think the reality that we live in.
This is a world where the cops will get an undercover female officer to pose as a prostitute, and arrest guys for wanting to pay for sex. What next? A guy opens a site where you can download music from, just to arrest people for doing so?
How many of you look at the advertizing that's done for the sake of companies, in blogs?
I know I just scroll down to the blog. I never take the time to look at the advertisements. I know the whole point is the mere suposition, but hell, I don't really even remember the slashdot articles 15 minutes after I read them.
The sixth and final installment of the "Star Wars" franchise was available for downloading on Elitetorrents.org more than six hours before it was released on theaters Thursday after midnight, according to the government statement.
Within 24 hours, more than 10,000 copies of the "Star Wars" film had been swiped.
I guess that's why George only made 108.5 MILLION!!! Those guys that were trading those movies should have to have all their hard work be shared to the point where THEY only get 108.5 MILLION. That'll teach'm.
We analyze the probability distribution functions (PDFs) of fluctuations of the B observed by Voyager 1 between 7 and 87 AU on scales from 1 to 128 days during each of four years (1980, 1991, 2001, and 2002).
Wow, Probability Distribution Functions. That's like saying Maybe give operations. Or, Perhaps send ability. Any way you look at it, it doesn't make any sense.
Essays must be 300 words or less. Extra points are given to essays that demonstrate the positive impact Windows has made on someone's life. Microsoft will select winners in five categories: culture and community, music, memories, home and lifestyle, and sports and games. To win, you must be at least 13 years old, live in the United States, and enter by Sept. 30. Microsoft plans to select winners in October.
I wonder what they would want the view of a 13-year-old American? Hell, I know a-plenty-o adults that can't make Windows work. This sounds desperate for Microsoft.
5 years ago, the cops broke down my door looking for drugs. When they discovered I had a computer, they immediately started looking for child porn. They found none after looking for 1-1/2 hours. The only thing they found was a URL in my temp internet files that had the word "lolita" in it. Since they found that word on my computer, they took it, and I still haven't got it back yet! They took the monitor, speakers, keyboard, tower, mouse, and mouse-pad. They even took the 6-plug-in surge-protector I had. They took all that and left a bad of software that was sitting right next to the computer. These guys aren't kidding about child porn, and shouldn't. But don't you think this is a little much?
I am not as shocked by them now saying that a program that encrypts files, are related to child porn. Hell, they told a grand jury (an Alabama grand jury. that means mostly farmers that have no evil computers) that "He has his hard-drive partitioned into 4 logical drives. This is common practice amung child porn people."
When it comes to child porn, they are really cracking down. And that's not a bad thing. It just seems like an invasion of privacy. I mean, what if you are into drafting, like me. If you have an encryption program on your computer, it could be used for anything.
It's the same with "safe-delete" programs. Will they go as far to say that "If you have a safe-delete program on your machine, you get arrested for possession of illegal things"? I guess this is the price we pay to have freedom as Americans.
It's funny how memory really works on a large scale. I mean, the things that existed 125 years ago, cannot be remembered by anyone here now. As a group, we cannot even conjure up what it must have been like 125 years ago, no more than we can for something that was 3,000 years ago. Practicle knowlege is what we really want...
Freemasons knew this, so they didn't write anything down. It's funny how "information" is dispursed, and kept. People are fighting over a way to get information in such a way that it is indestructible, but look at the Egyptians did. They tried, even to use pictures, like NASA did when they launched that space pod, in order to express to aliens where Earth was, and what was on Earth. (they had to use pictures do to obvious problems with language)
My point is that I don't think this problem with finding ways to keep data will ever be figured out. There are physical laws that govern the way matter acts. None of which, seem to hold data about a certain time, or place.
We should all look at this and understand the principals at play here. We as a human race are at a point where information CAN be obtained very easily, and abundantly.
We are watching, every day mind you, more and more unfolding along the lines of "the people" vs. "THE MONEY!!!". Why is this, and what can really be done about it?
I think it's a good thing to ponder. Otherwise, these stories will continue, and the real America will be lost. This was suppose to be a place where we "Let Freedom Ring". Not "Please deposite $100,000.00 to hear the sound of freedom ringing.
Wow, I said that on SLASHDOT, the world will REALLY change now.
Come on people, really. Where's TFA? It looks as though 95% of the people here are jumping up and down, pointing, and laughing, all because someone told them that Microsoft flopt. That's pretty immature.
What's really funny is, this one time, at band-camp, I saw Bill Gate's weeny. It's small, hee hee hee.
A third person present at the incident had been questioned, police said.
A videotape was found nearby by police called to the scene on Sunday.
She added: "At this stage we are unable to confirm the exact circumstances, but glass tubes and traces of accelerant (flammable substance) were found at the scene."
...She then added, "Cyaan sumwun heolp mee wiff my bukle, my pyants arr fwall'n owff aginn."
...aren't black-holes already deemed "theory"? I mean, we don't have any scientific PROOF that they exist, it's all just theory, right? Black "holes" could very well be areas in spacetime that are concaved OUT instead of IN. There was an article (and no, I can't find it now) where one guy came up with a theory that light has different speeds, and that black holes were really areas in spacetime where time itself comes to a halt. That basicly if you ever were to try to go INTO one, the result would be that the closer that you get to it, the slower you can go. This would make the black hole seem to never get any closer, and it would take an infinate amount of time to reach the center.
This phenomenon is especially prevelent in males ages 9 through 120, who readily associate almost anything they encounter with their own genitals or breasts.
Call me old fashion, but I can remember a time when BREASTS weren't something that MALES concidered GENITALS.

hmmm... what could that reason be...?
How do we know that it was ever extinct? As far as I know, plants can't just appear. It must have never been extinct, making this an even lamer story.
Either that, or his boss was looking over his shoulder when he was submitting the story.
Or maybe he's just "your classic boss-rear-end-cleaner".

Yeah, he's right. So why do I have all these past speeding tickets?

Chill dude, it's only slashdot. We're all good strangers here.
...then again, there's always the idea of the worm proving a point. After all, it was a "Witty Worm"
