I really like your post and wish to add a little to it if I may. If you are a virtual monopoly like microsoft is it would be illegal to sell your software at such a price as to drive out competition. However, if you sell demos that happen to get cracked and this drives out the competition then its all legal and you can't get sued in a trust case. So, IMO that is what MS strategy is. OH NOES!! they stole our software and gave it away to our competitors potential clients Drat!!
I dislike their model because they distinguish themselves from PC's. You don't go to newegg and buy components to build your own mac. But you can build your own Linux pc or windows pc or any other pc you want. And I take it their business model is to keep apple computers only built by Apple which doesn't allow the customer as much flexibility.
Although I agree that we can't just change world economy based on 20 years of research into global climate changes. We do need to look at better managing our resources and our total global impact. That said I hate people that think because scientists have studied a problem for 20 years that those scientists have clue what they are talking about.
Ok lets look at science from a couple different ways. First are the sciences that have practical physical application such as nuclear science, physics, chemistry and the like. Then their are the more "theoretical" if you will sciences that deal with how our world evolved. Now I know you all don't want to hear this but we really have no clue as to what the life cycle of a planet is on a 10k yr view but we all do know that there have been ice ages and periods of extreme heat and tropics on the earth. So, how did these swings occur with out us nasty humans polluting all of the atmosphere who the hell knows but the earth won't be destroyed even if we anhilate eachother with nuclear weapons take bikini island for example.
Anyways, having a narrow minded opinion either way on global warming is stupid...from America and Canada's perspective a 2 degree shift in warmer weather would allow us to produce more food and create more rainfall which would be a bonus or so scientists say. But hey once they have studied the climate change for 50-60 years and still have no clue sort of like cancer researchers then everyone might have a better perspective.
well being a WoW player I can tell you that you might censor game content but you cant censor dialogue between players. I see lots of Chinese people going about their daily jobs farming gold in WoW and their is no way the government can censor that besides just banning chinese access to WoW servers located outside China.
You still have a choice before you decide to drive. If you don't want to be forced to submit to a test then don't drive. Your logic is flawed. From your same argument I would assume you think it is wrong to force airline pilots to take random tests for drug and alcohol use. The basic idea is when you are in a position to cause harm to others that can result in death you lose some of your autonomy of decision. When you get behind the wheel of a car you are making a social promise that you can stay in control of your vehicle and not harm others. If you don't wish to accept that you don't have to drive. Move to a city and take mass transit.
Although I will agree that being forced to do something is a erosion of rights. No one has a right to drive. It is a privilege. No one forces you to just take a breathalizer test. Even in a case of a false positive you can ask to have your blood taken. They can note the time it is and your blood alcohol level at the time of the bood test and determine what your % was that way to.
I am a huge fan of the open up the source of breathalizer stuff. Every citizen has a right to know how and why it works. In fact no hardware software that can be admisible as evidence should be closed source otherwise how can independent review take place.
To add onto your point about 1yr into a consoles life your PC will out perform it. It is more like 1 or 2 months at worst that a consol can beat a PC. This is because for over 6-12months before the console comes out the tech has to be no longer being upgraded so finalization of design can happen. Also to allow game devs a chance to create games that will work at release.
So, I would go so far as to say consoles aren't any better than a decent computer when they are released. And remember lots of PC gamers use their computers for other things that a consol can't support so all your really are comparing price wise between a consol and PC is Ram + vid card.
Actually if I remember correctly the Dr. Ann lady person a few years ago lost her case vs. hustler for publishing and profiting off of nudes taken of her by an ex when she was younger. So, you are absolutely correct you shouldn't let loons have your nude pics or if you are truly concerned about it then don't take nude pics of yourself. Also, it is not Yahoo's job to know if the woman was serious or if she was just faking the identity of the person in the photos.
I hear you on the buttons but that is still 1 fewer which can mean the difference between a zoom feature or a crouch or any number of things. But I hate mice that don't have all the buttons of the one I have. 5 buttons that can be pushed and the scroll button can act as 3 buttons itself so it is 7 total. but definitely if you don't game alot the trackball is probably the way to go.
Not to disagree with your accuracy statement on trackballs, but if you truly are a hardcore fps gamer trackballs won't work. I bought a microsoft optical explorer 5 button mouse the first time I saw one in stores and has kept it ever since. This brings about the point of why trackballs are inferior. My mouse has 5 buttons on it so every finger except my pinky is bound to a gun or some other function in the game. If I had to give up another slot just to move my aim I would lose versatility. Anyways I would agree for the casual gamer trackballs would work...just not for the hc ones

Although you are no doubt right about portable computers replacing desktops until they can match a desktop in computing power no true gamer will use a laptop/notebook for gaming. If all you ever do is use office apps and surf the web then a desktop isn't what you need. However, the term Desktop Replacement is the most agravating thing ever. If you used it in conjunction with a normal sized notebook/laptop I would understand but a 19" laptop is just rediculous. If you are going to be taking your notebook to work and setting it on your desk and using a different keyboard and mouse and all why not just get a docking station and have a separate monitor to? Also if you have a 19" screen on your lap you will have to turn your head side to side just to look at the whole screen. So, stop with the love affair with bigger is better because in laptops/notebooks it isn't, better quality sturdier, more computing power and more lightweight are better but not bigger.

First off you can't successfully feed the worlds population currently without major problems that goes along with housing them. Yes I feel sorry for 3rd world countries with huge death rates but, have you considered what would happen right now if we fed all of those children who die from stravation or of diseases because they have no food to keep their immune systems running. I will give you a hint the worlds population would skyrocket until those 3rd world countries finally industrialized.

I am in the group of 3+ days to buy online...unless it is a DvD sale and it has free shipping. But usually if I need something quickly I just go to a store and pay the exrta 15-20% they are going to charge me. I think the best thing they could do is corralate what type of item was bought and how long it took for the customer to make a decision.
I am not sure what type of system you are running but I have only been dropped from the game 3 times in the last 30 days. After I have loaded into a city I have no other lag problems. On the last patch day the servers were packed with people...more than usual which increased the lag but it was still playable. I disagree about the need content every month. They need good solid content and it needs to work if that is every 2 months fine just don't give messed up quests that dont work.
The people that think that the honor system is messed up because if you aren't a hardcore PvP gamer you can't get to the top are rediculous. I must say if you are only rewarding the top 2.5% of players with the highest rank then those players should have to play their asses off to get there. The only thing wrong with PvP is that some of the classes are underpowered for it. Such as Palidin which has no way of keeping a enemy near them if they decide to run. Or Rogues that can stunlock annyone which is slightly rediculous. No PvP is balanced when someone can from a completely invisible state stun someone and keep them stuned until they are killed. Other than that WoW is awesome.

Uh about your ideas......you don't need a huge screen. You can always just zoom in that is a bonus for computers.
