    The unfortunate thing though is that the farmer that makes a few extra cents profit costs us thousands of dollars when uninsured immigrants need medical care. While we have ensured that inflation of food prices stays low medical costs have skyrocketed.

    If you go into the middle of the rain forest, and dig down a couple of feet you hit sand. You would think that if trees were removing all this carbon from the atmosphere the layer would be a 100 feet deep. What happens is the wood rots and releases most of the carbon as CO2 and methane.

    I would say that most of the carbon 'sinking' is done by algae that dies and falls to the bottom of the ocean, where it is cold and oxygen is limited. We don't know though if we fertilize the ocean that the algae will end up in the right spot, or just find its way to an area where the carbon would return to the atmosphere.

    Internal attacks generate much more press than external ones because they are psychologically much more devastating. When you get screwed by someone you know you feel much more violated than by a stranger. Statistically external attacks outnumber internal ones by a large margin.

    All the people that bought a PS3 for christmas ran out to buy a blu ray to play on it. It's a temporary bump in sales.

    You don't get it do you? Evolutionary changes are what makes the world work. Your not going to make a process commercially viable if people have to retool and replace every automobile they have because you think so. The older I get the more I realize the wisdom behind 'baby steps'.

    Another thing that contributes to the articles 'suck' is that nobody anywhere has proposed ethanol as a source of electricity. Ethanol will eventually solve the problem of providing a high density energy source for vehicles.

    The real pay off for ethanol will be when a good process for making ethanol from cellulose is developed. Cellulose is just long chains of sugars, and it is just a matter of time before the chemistry becomes a reality.

    In the meantime, ethanol for corn will help get the infrastructure in place.
