Although I agree that many people still use and enjoy books, they are still obsolete. They have no way to quickly search them, annotating them sucks (what do I do with my notes after I've written them, retype them?) and they are usually out of date by the time I get my hands on them. I refer you to a magical device called an "index", combined with coloured sticky page markers and a memory I can search a book that I've read faster than a pdf document that I've read. Add the better resolution, the fact that it's DRM free and has better battery life than any PDA, I think I'll stick with books.

First, why mix the two, they have absolutely nothing to do with each other; and why is it a UN problem? I don't recall either conflict being UN sanctioned.

International law and terrorists, making smaller countries comply

It can only do that when the larger countries start to lead by example. The UN only has the power of it's member nations, when the nations on the security council starts playing politics with the rule of law. It's the USA that consistently uses it's veto to block resolutions against Israel, why be surprised if the Russians and\or Chinese do the same in respect of Iran? Both stances are purely political, and should have no place in a hypothetical ideal UN.

Making the UN more constructive and productive so we don't think they are an expensive ineffective joke

It was the US that withheld it's UN dues for many years (I don't know if it is still the case), and the US who is one of the smallest contributers to UN peacekeeping missions, so complaining about the expense rings hollow.

It's called building up a brand. If you can't do the simple games, then pitch your idea to an already established games company, or get a job at one. Expecting to start big is a silly idea, don't run before you can walk.

*These games appeal to a wide audience and can be easily ported to XBox live so you can show Nintendo that you've not only done PC, but console development as well.

If you want to get your game on the Wii I believe Nintendo require you to prove yourself on another platform. There are plenty of PC gamers out there, release your game on PC, distribute via the internet. If it's a hit Nintendo should have no problems letting you release it on the Wii, if it's not a hit well then you're unlikely to make Nintendo money so try again until you come up with a quality title.

It has more than a touchscreen in difference.

Really? So, touch screen aside, what are the differences between the iPhone and N95? Neither of the two official retailers will even give me full specs on the iPhone. Here's what O2 has to say about each:
    N95
    iPhone
It's the same story with Carphone warehouse:
    N95
    iphone>

So from everything I've gathered from looking at them both in bricks and mortar O2 shop and on the web the differences seem to me to be thus:
    iPhone has a touch screen
    iPhone has longer talk time
    N95 is cheaper
    N95 is 3G
    N95 can do MMS
    N95 has expandable memory
    N95 has GPS

The rest is more or less the same; the iPhone has it's place, it just doesn't deserve the hype it's getting. It's just another high end phone the only thing it brings to the party is a touch screen and pretty looks and even the latter depends on your taste, personally I've always liked my phones to be about the size and shape of a brick, and can't stand some of the tiny "cute" phones on the market.

Unfortunately they don't sell the 3510i any more or I would have replaced it with another one, I ended up buying the closest thing I could get another Nokia. But during my lunch hour I popped by the O2 shop outside West Quay (Yes I live in Southampton too) to see if there were any fanboys I could taunt*. There weren't; during the five minutes I lingered I didn't see a single customer, and to be blunt, that's not surprising.
I have a low tech phone that's only a few months old (Nokia 6070; forced purchase after my 5yr old 3510i died), by coincidence I bought it from that same O2 shop, it cost me £30 on pay as you go and even it has a camera (both still and video), radio and browses the web. I don't understand why I should pay 10 times the price for apple branding on something that only has double the features. If and When I get a high end phone I'm likely to get something like a Nokia N95, that O2 shop was giving them away free with an 18 month contract.
