  1. Re:Advertising is destroying Flash on New Technique for Tracking Web Site Visitors · · Score: 1

I agree. Flash is a great program...when used for the purpose it was originally designed. I've seen some great animations and cool interactive menus out there, all created with Flash. It's sad to see a tool that was once a cool way to do a couple of things become the whipping boy of money whores.

    Isn't that a pretty picture?

Since our lives are filled with so much uselessness, realize that most of what goes on truly does not matter and laugh at things. You'll see your life getting better almost immediately.

I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing a couple of penguins boink, video it, and then _accidentally_ leak it to the internet for publicity. Overall, I think this is a good move. Well, as long as Ms. Hilton's password habits aren't followed.

Where I work, we have no deadlines. It's great. I'm done with a project when I'm done with a project. Anytime the boss comes around to check up, just reply, "It's going great," or "I'm making excellent progress." The guy in the cube across from mine was able to work on a for loop for about a month using this technique. That's right, a for loop. The chance for doing little to nothing is great, which leads to a stress-free work environment.

Yeah, because keeping them in a bubble and shielding them from reality will be beneficial to them? Sure... If children are never exposed to anything, they will not have the experience to react properly when they are faced with these things in real life. Video games are no different than other forms of media. Movies, TV, books, magazines, video games; it's all the same. It is up to the parents to decide what is and what is not appropriate for their child, and it is also up to them to hold intellectual discourse with the child so that child can learn about murder, honor, politics, hand-eye coordination, or whatever. Many movies rated R, or games rated M are perfectly acceptable to children 12 years old, 10 years old, whatever. All kids need is a little guidance and instruction. Bubbles are bad. Have faith in yourself and your children.

I agree completely. Some people are just looking for a patsy. Let's blame absolutely everything and everyone EXCEPT for the responsible party. If one were to look through the entire written history of man, I think there would be an interesting correlation between parenting and crime. Crime is not new, murder is not new, but video games are. So, obviously, video games are the cause of all violent acts.

That's what went through my head when I read the headline. If something like this just refuses to die, something else is behind it. You can really tell because this is happening so fast. If there was an issue that was not influenced by big money, and it was subject to debate between sides, we wouldn't hear it go back and forth so often. With this, the tide goes back and forth every other day. Politics don't move that fast unless there's a lot of money or power involved.

I don't see why the Music Industry is complaining. Think of this from a business perspective. Low prices means more people will buy it (as a generalization). How can the prices be "too low" if iTunes has been extrememly successful? Exactly how much sense does that make? If the prices had been much higher, I don't think the iTunes Music Store would have seen the success it enjoys today. Look at Wal-Mart, for example. Their goal is to offer products at as low of a price as possible, and they do a decent job at that (just admit it, even if you hate Wal-Mart). Think about it. What businessman in their right mind would make this statement: "Our sales are through the roof! This must mean our prices are too low and we should raise them." WTF? Discalimer: DRTFA

Yes, I'm sure something along those lines will happen. But one must look at it this way: it does have academic purpose. Academic stuff involves teaching and learning, and I see plenty of that going on here. Even though I am not a lawyer, I see a striking parallel between this "academic purpose" and the Sony Betamax case. Since there is a legitimate use, it's legal. In this case, that use would be a learning tool.
