    I've lost count of the installations I've downgraded, legally and not so much. & isn't XP2 it's Vista II and M$ still hasn't learned from the Win8 Installation I've been toying with. It's not the final product granted, but it's not what I was hoping for. Until they go back to straight forward interfaces instead of the Fancy Tinker Toy for Adults, I'll pass and do Linux when my XP PC's can no longer function on the new hardware. There's also a illusion that there aren't drivers around for many new devices, look around, most new devices still have XPsp2-3 drivers from the chipset makers or the OEM if you look around and have the time.

    Do we even know that these guys are lulz ? All these efforts seem to be aimed at ferreting out people who would join these causes. There is no centralized group flying these banners (except for lulz one would think). But how do you authenticate identity on anonymous hackers ?

    What is it with these people ? Do they spend all day looking for things to tax ? This would be a nightmare to regulate anyways and yes, drive business away. I long for the old Internet before the vendors and spammers got hip to its ways. Now all we have are ISP and Anti Viral companies to bent on profit to actually stop Trojans, Viruses and spam dead in their tracks. The world is a sad stupid place.

    Computer aren't infallible, period. Trust me, after twenty seven years in IT/IM I can say that Data can be used to prove almost anything. And if the tech isn't solid, which it never truly is, so many errors will crop up and make it impossible to defend against. This is more 1984 big brother nonsense and must be stopped. Just as bad as having state cameras watching your kids in your home because they keep breaking the law (UK).

    All BS anyways, my speed on Rogers is great, my Bandwidth sucks. Open more than a few concurrent connections and the wife gets a disco on WoW, legit torrent traffic drops to 0 and I'm forced to reset my Modem and router...and we only get 90Gigs/Month. Used to be you could do anything on the net, now it's molasses.

    Agreed, but watch them try to implement some cheap bastardized version.... What you propose would be needed, the reality is that no perfect system ever comes online, they always cut corners and hope for the best. This is OUR only "free" avenue, if we don't fight for it, we deserve to have it reduced to a Phone/TV/Advertising service.

    I always considered the fact of slow mutation (or evilution) explaning why the egg came first, depending what animal we were speaking about. The Egg came first, but what came out wasn't a chicken, not for a long time... Now if you asked what came first, the XenoAnimal or the Egg, things might be different...

    Norton Biz AV, SpyBot, ZA, HOSTS file, PestPatrol, Acronis just in case, Switch+Router....

    You are allowed your own opinions, just not your own Facts.
    As far as price and performance, XP still rules, unless you opted for SP3.

    You can blather on about security all you want, but with a good firewall, AV and restore
    solution, the point is moot. Any User will kaybosh a PC with bad habits, we'll never get away from that. You can mitigate it, but never really win.

    Vista was a total failure. The upgrade path to Win7 will require new PC's, period.
    Doing anything else your Clients will be at your cubicle complaining of speed and
    freezing issues.

    Yes I have worked for MS Support...and Digital in the bad old days....
    Helping the PC market thrive by upgrading every three years is fine for Corporations, but
    for Johnny and Mary, having a good tech friend that can teach them good habits is much more
    agreable then sending them to Futureshop to get fleeced once again, every three years.

    Having said that, Apps and games will soon REQUIRE Winblows 7.
    Wait around a bit, Save up, and get that new PC with Win7...unless 8 is out by then...
    (July 2011 right ? )
