"I see you're using Internet Explorer. You may want to try Firefox, I think you'll like it better.
Firefox can block unwanted pop-up windows. It can stop viruses and spyware. It keeps Microsoft from controlling the future of the internet. It's more conformant to the prevailing standards (XHTML, CSS, etc) Click the button on the right to download and install Firefox. It's free. "
"I'm not trying to be facetious or knock you or anything, but you may actually be one of the few people in the entire world who actually get any benefit what-so-ever from the Windows Explorer/Internet Explorer integration, touted as the biggest thing since sliced bread by Microsoft (& KDE) Here I was thinking it was utterly pointless and never used. How wrong I am."
Hehe possibly, I will admit when they first started that whole mesh years ago i thought it would be a crock of shit/bullshit exscuse to tie IE into windows and i used netscape back in those days, however I've grown to use it and it works extremely well for me. So a requirement for me AT THIS POINT(barring unknowns in other browser development or) is the ability to browse files as nicely as i can in IE now.
"Maybe you can use the program designed to browse the filesystem. "
Thanks, I am and it works great. its called IE. Works great for me. I can sort in any view type i want etc etc etc. copy and paste, etc etc. it works perfect the way i need to. I have no desire or need to go to a different browerser for my filesystem on windows machines. The fact that i can browse the internet from the same app is an added bonus that i like and enjoy.
"Seriously, demanding one application does *everything* is the wrong way of thinking (even for emacs.../me ducks). Do one thing and do it well is the classical UNIX way of thinking. Sure, you *can* use 'lynx' as a text editor (with a bit of code), but wouldn't it be better to use $EDITOR."
Why? It works for me in IE now. I can browse the web and all my work intranet sites and at the same time easily navigate my file system(i happen to like the view i use) all in the same window..
I like Firefox.. however its not my browser of choice and here's why..
I am constantly switching with ctrl-tab between using IE for web based crap and going throough my file system.. ctrl-tab type c:\ and bam.. you get the idea?
I like the interface explorer gives me for browsing my files. I don't like the interface FIREFOX or any other browser gives me.. Is there any way I can get that interface inside firefox? some plugin maybe?
GMR going away is a shame.. it was actually a good/decent console gaming magazine compared to the rest of the crud out there.. and there reviews were fairly reasonable(not all 10's) like some others... oh well...
I use google desktop search for emails in outlook for work.. it finds days olds emails and sorts em by thread in seconds while outlook takes minutes.. even better i can click reply to all in google search response and it spawns an outlook email with all the contents required.. its a huge time saver and i'll never use the shitty outlook search feature ever again!
I've seen little to no mention of a dedicated server.. I would like to be able to run my own server.. just like i do with CS/DOD... i know different engine.. shut up..
Rocks?!?!? You had rocks?!?! I had mountains! do you know how long you have to wait for a mountain to erode over time to turn in to a rock?!?! let alone two rocks!!
Not only is it annoying see these types of ads on news sites and what not but one of the places I enjoy playing CS/DOD/NS at(shameless plug http://www.dexworld.org) has started putting the same types of ads into our POSTS in the forums.
So when i'm posting in the tech support forum or whatever and mention one of 9-16 keywords they have relating to different companies from IBM to Nvidia to ATI those words automatically get highlighted and linked to a site where you can buy those companies products..
I don't particullary care for this because while I'm not sure of the legality of it, I don't want MY post and MY thoughts to be the vehicle for targeted ads that I may or may not support. Its one thing with banner ads n such.. but on my posts? i find that to be a new low and now I make sure to use spaces to defeat it.
And to all of you who will say it pays for the site blah blah.. I donate to the site regulary to help keep it running.. I just don't like my forum posts being turned into ADS!!
that is poketastic

Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

So what can you do about it? Not much, unless the kernel maintainers ease up a little, and stop being such fundamentalistic turds.
