Just for shits and giggles, my sneakernet beats out my 20/20 FiOS connection on Usenet - on an hourly basis. I also get the added benefit of going somewhere and maybe experiencing something interesting rather than just sitting at home.
Usenet is old, and practically no ISP carries Usenet access any longer. Who cares about a service practically dead when there's other alternatives out there like XDC and whatnot?
"Because then users would need to install a special app on their desktop just to copy data to/from the memory card."
As if other companies don't sneak shit past you without your fucking permission anyways - e.g. EA/SecuROM. They could just make it 'part of the installation' and be done with it.
"Are judges held accountable for demonstrably wrong decisions?"
Not unless that decision specifically breaks a law. Note how you cannot sue a judge for putting a person in jail even though they were clearly innocent if that's what the jury decides is right.
Yes skype requires wifi on the PSP. Here's the kicker - the wifi on the PSP is notoriously WEAK. I can't get any further than 20 feet from any WAP or I lose connection, has been with every PSP model and revision I've owned. The fact that it can still give me a better call on an absolutely shit wireless signal than a cell phone with a full set of bars tells me that the iPhone is a piece of crap.
Basically my PSP does everything iPhone does (and more with a little homebrew) PLUS it can actually play some serious games.
Persona 3: FES and Final Fantasy VII were the two that made me break out.
Persona 3 moreso than FFVII - Persona 3 was much more fucked up. Main character dies at the end of the game - no happy ending for j00. Guess that's what happens when you put a gun to your head and shoot yourself repeatedly in the brain to summon monsters to do your fighting for you.
Not when I cap my upload to the bare minimum required to keep the packets incoming. Fuck enforced ratio trackers. I hold my upload speed at 2 KB/s which could be practically any damned thing. I'd like to see how that argument holds up in court. "I couldn't make available because I absolutely restrict all outgoing transfers. The only things that do not get restricted are packets being sent out to request the next load of incoming packets."
AC there basically says what I'm saying - their patent system is better than ours. In almost every way, it is superior to ours, which is held down by all kinds of bullshit.
"I disagree, the iPhone was the first to offer a touch screen based UI, a solid internet browser, a usable mobile calendar, and a viable iPod replacement."
Not even remotely true. Before the iPhone there was the LG Touchscreen. It also had a solid internet browser, Openwave IIRC. No calendar but it did play MP3 files.
See, where you think the iPod is something new, it's not. It's a well-marketed rip-off.
Consider this - In the USA We have Hi-Def, 1920x1080. Japan is about to release SHV, 7680 x 4320 pixels.
And we're just now catching on. Japan is killing us technology wise, in part because they aren't as encumbered by patents as we are, in part because while we're the melting pot of the world we're really quite secular, and then to top it all off our entire rate of progress is hindered by our legal system.
There is no difference in the CD format if you follow Philips' patents and standards. ones and zeroes are ones and zeroes. In fact this same error correction is used in audio CDs as well, as it is a part of the CD Specification. That's why you have portable CD players with buffering nowdays, as what you just described is exactly how they manage to play poorly-scratched discs.
"Video games started largely as an activity of children"
Dead wrong. Video games started out in a college. Adults made video games. Adults played video games (Leisure Suit Larry, Kings Quest, Police Quest) until technology got cheap and robust enough for children to start playing with it. Atari and Colecovision and ActionMaxx and NES came out and THEN gaming became accessible to kids - just plug it in and play, no need to learn how to access a disk drive and run from command line.
It's been a good while since we had any used to set some assholes back on the straight and narrow. I think it's time we started up again and had a good ol' time doing so.
"Take my word for it: the federal court system is far less corrupt than you think it is [though YMMV with state and local courts"
I won't take your word for it because lawyers are liars for the most part. Also, Federal system continues to fuck over the citizen while states enact laws to defend the citizen (Medical Marijuana, anyone)) and despite repeated state measures barring FEDERAL thugs from doing things THEY STILL DO IT.
The corruption is everywhere and it is DEEP. Having been in prison, and having been through several Federal circuits, you're so full of yourself I don't see HOW you can wake up and look at yourself in a mirror with a straight face.
The people should have individually sued Microsoft. Class-Action suits do nothing. Hundreds of wins in lower courts does EVERYTHING including enriching those who were conned out of their money.
It also gets rid of Microsoft's lawyer ability to some degree, since some of these cases will wind up in small claims, where Microsoft can't send lawyers.
Can I make the obvious joke, yet? Given how 'secure' Windows is is there ANY surtprise from them having a physical object stolen from them as opposed to a digital one?
I mean, seriously! You expect a company with a poor track record of OS security to have any CLUE about physical security?
Usenet fucking sucks anyways.

I can tell you don't have a PSP, otherwise you'd immediately know what I'm talking about.
With 10-30% signal, Skype is unusable. It will instantly drop even while you're connected to other services without issue.
FFVII and Persona 3 FES
Persona 3 more than FF
I lost my mod points yesterday, otherwise I'd mod you up.

Which ones? I never had an Origin game make me cry.
Played the living shit out of every Ultima made, except UO. Played Mobius, too.

I haven't had an MMO make me cry.
I've had two single-player RPGs make me break out in tears.
They mostly come out at night. Mostly.
AC there basically says what I'm saying - their patent system is better than ours. In almost every way, it is superior to ours, which is held down by all kinds of bullshit.
They know how to respect patents, and their system is far better than ours. They are STILL not nearly as encumbered as we are.
Oh, and 5 million yen? That's like a slap on the wrist. That's, what, about 50,000 USD? Microsoft and other companies would LAUGH at that.
Exactly.
I get better phone calls using Skype on my PSP. That's sad that a portable game console can beat out a supposed phone in it's own main function.
What about "Console Game" do you not comprehend?
Doom was released on consoles as an afterthought, and it SUCKED on the SNES and Genesis/32X and even the Playstation Final Doom sucked.

Big fucking explosions.

No you weren't. I know for a fact you weren't looking at Ingram Micro's site.

Then explain to me why it's on my ANALOG 22" LCD as well, then. There is no HDMI or DVI connection, so just how is HDCP implemented?
The Vista Capable is just a marketing scheme.
