How about implementing a system where each party has to authorize each other for emails to be sent. Let's say you wanted to email a message to your friend Bill. You have Bills email and he has yours. To establish a connection between both of you, you have to send out a request to Bill first. Thing is, Bill won't ever see your request (this is to prevent both parties from being spammed by requests). Now Bill knows you and wants to email you also, he also knows you probably already sent a request, so he sends out a request to you. At this point when both requests are sent, a link can be established and both persons are notified of this.
This could be doable by each mail server and seems like good way to eliminate spam.
So will Nintendo be releasing updated dev kits for their older consoles? I see a lot of potential in this. Especially if Nintendo steps in and helps with the online distribution of these games.
If you want to do it yourself, in windows go into device manager and view the properties of your video card. Then go into the details tab and select hardware ids in the dropdown list. You can then use the last value displayed and add it among the other hardware id's in the nv4_disp.inf file. For most unrecognized cards, this requires adding two lines of text to the file.
So Grand Theft Auto, with its references to drugs, sex, and murder is a big OK in your book. Drugs and violent crime kill more people, why are you worried about bullying? Actually, why the hell are your kids playing mature games in the first place. As a "parent", maybe you should put some more control in what games your kids are playing. As an adult, I admire the concept of this game, and I haven't been in a position to be affected by bullying for a very long. But I guess banning a game is always easier than being a responsible parent.
Seriously, back in 1999 when the ps2 released in Japan, didn't a standalone dvd player cost around $500 to $700? I bought a ps2 myself partly because it also played dvd movies and was cheap. You just have to do a little googling to see that Sony usually sells their game consoles at a loss.
Actually, I believe the Genesis outsold the SNES in worldwide sales. It was quite popular in Europe and Japan. It also wasn't the first out. Turbographx 16 was the first out in that generation.

Sure, they have make room for all that quality reporting, like the daily blog report.
Although I don't have a HDTV and don't intend on buying one soon, it's nice to know that at least the xbox 360 and ps3 will be useable on my 19-inch monitor. A bad move in my opinion.
I wonder how many of these Slashdotters who complain that they don't have enough time to play games, are also ones who purchase the 10+ hour Lord of the Rings boxsets, or occasionally sit through a Star Wars marathon. Excluding RPG's most games will average 10-20 hours. I don't think that is long at all. Why are video games any different than any other form of recreation?
A bit of speculation here, but I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft gave the recompiled versions out for free over Xbox Live, but only to people who are gold subscribers. Could be a good ploy to get people who aren't interested in Xbox Live to join up.
Anyone remember the line about the PS2 being able to render Toy Story in real-time?
Yeah, but it wasn't Sony that claimed it. Sony said the ps2 could render CG, and they followed that up by rendering the ballroom scene from Final Fantasy 8
You lost me at "miles behind Zelda 2". If you say there is nothing majestic about Kingdom Hearts, then I know you haven't played it through until the end. The inclusion of Disney characters makes the game just so much more charming. Probably Squarenix's best game this generation.
Delphine Software produced Out of this World and Flashback in the first half of the 90's. While not the two most recognized games from that time, they brought a deep cinematic experience that I hadn't seen on consoles prior.
People only seem to remember the mario's and the zelda's for the nes. The way I remember it, the number of mediocre to bad games outnumbered the really good ones.
And alot of people are happy with the way games are now, and the direction Microsoft and Sony are taking it. I think there's tons of innovation still to be had on the software side of things aswell.

You can get a preformatted inf file here.

I wanted to destroy something beautiful.
of Tim Berners-Lee's web page, I think somebody should really get that n00blet a copy of Dreamweaver.
Apparently Mattel also made the NES. There's a big honking Mattel logo right on the original box my NES came in (circa 1989).

go here and just download new saves. Extract them and copy to your ps3 over your home network.

Xbox 360 will include limited backwards compatibility probably with high profile games functional at first. Downside of emulating I guess.

The font used in both instances is called "Mata".
Fear not, i've already reported him to Homeland Security.

It just works... But to be on the safe side, please upgrade to Intel Pentium Extreme2 7ghz
So calling your console "Revolution" does not equal hype?
