I'll cross the border without a passport into Canada, try to get back, the US will kick me out, and then Canada will have to take me. Thank you bloody Yanks, you've written my ticket out of here.
I remember this AMD chip...probably licensed from Intel, but it was a "hot" chip back in the day (16, 25, and 33 MHz were the Intel speeds IIRC). So I'd say AMD has a long history of providing bang for the buck for people who care about both bang and bucks. However, I have a long history of bad memory, or so I've been told...
C.S. Lewis's lily-white characters could use some modern multicultural updating. Perhaps some Jewish folk, too. After all, even in a Christian allegorical tract the Christians should pay for the Shoah. Just keep out them damn dirty Gypsies.
...and to be honest I can't get too worked up about cookies and Flash information caching.
Public websites are just that: public. You don't get to veto who's tracking and/or spamming you. If you want to discuss insurrection or your new Gecko-powered browser, go somewhere private.
Beside, a lack of torrents is an infringement of piracy too, in my opinion.:/
...as Doom 3 so aptly demonstrated. We need more games like System Shock 2. I want cool 3D tech and great art, but really, deathmatch and rocket launchers are boring and inexcusable in this modern age.
I hated Quake 2 and Unreal; I didn't even bother with Quake 3 and UT (or whatever it is now). The fact that the developers are claiming they loved Quake 2 doesn't raise my expectations very high.
I'm talking Real Life. I choose to avoid that by staying indoors posting on Slashdot and playing computer games...or is it just because I can't get a job?
Lions lounge around 20 hours a day, while the proletarian antelopes have to forage all day on little sleep, and then get eaten by the lion. That's why lions are king. There's a political commentary there, I think.
Catholics are stand-ins for generic Christians, because they have identifiable iconography, and Americans recognize them (vs. Orthodox). They also have a long history, which lets you add an element of antiquity to your fiction. Catholics are known as being superstitious, and so are make easy targets.
If reading a communist/socialist/anti-capitalist agenda makes you sick, imagine how I feel about the reactionary/fascist/oligarchical agenda that's being shoved in my face IN REAL LIFE.
"Only criminals will be affected." or "I don't need civil rights because I'm not using them." or "Since everyone should be just like me, nobody should have the right to be different than me." or "I hate the human race. Everyone should just die (except me)."
And what happened to this fine Orwellian plan? I'd sure hate to think our boys in black would have to trudge out to the field and muck around with hardware when they could cyberjack some ICE on their shiny Unix systems (in 3D).
I've heard claims that Firefox is harder to use than IE and that you need to install and configure it to get the same features you get in IE. Geez. Some people are plain stupid. I mean, just click on a menu and it tells you what you can do, FFS. However, MS got so big by catering to the enormous market of idiots.
I suggest that Firefox consider bundling themes and addons that would make it identical to IE and make them the default. During the install, they could make the "Default" be an IE clone, and the "Custom/Non-Clueless" option could be like the present install.
Honestly, you can't beat 'em without stooping to their level. Bend over, Firefox!
When I visited Asia in the '93-'96 timeframe, I found only ONE legitimate software vendor (in Singapore), and their prices were twice the US rate. This is versus the innumerable pirate shopfronts (the Golden Arcade in Hong Kong, anyone?) that would sell you disks in a baggy with photocopied docs for $cheap. Heck, I had a full copy of Doom before it was released that I bought in the UAE. I think it was Beta 7 or something like that, back when Beta meant prerelease, instead of version 1.0.
97% literacy in the US is rather optimistic. Being able to read street signs is not literacy, nor do I think the majority of Americans can write more than is sufficient to fill in the blanks in forms--full-blown prose (with complete sentences and such) would elude them. We are loosing a generation of yuths to bad speeking and pore grammer. But whut can u do 2 fix it? Dunno. kthx, my 0.02 cents, lataz
This gives me an idea--with the phat GPUs on modern video cards, it might be possible to implement Linux that runs ON your video card. Imagine, you could run Windows/MacOS and Linux simultaneously! Or recode the kernel in DX pixel shader language...my mind is atwirl with cascading torrents of effluvia...

I'll defend to the death your right to watch TV, but if you want to espouse unpopular views, you're on your own.
God is not. Ergo, God is not science. Ditto for creationism.
Unless you can tell me how you could be proven wrong, you ARE wrong.

Well, the IPO kind of tipped me off. "Because it profits the shareholders" is the universal corporate excuse for all manner of chicanery.
