Easy. My line of reasoning suggests we should conserve and look for alternative fuels. Your example involves killing people. Mine has benifits even if the "what if" was wrong. Yours does not.
I think the point was that since this is either caused by A) nature, or B) us, perhaps we should start working on B just in case it isn't A.
If its A) and we worked on B), then we profit from less oil dependence and less smog, particulate matter, etc
If its B) and we assumed A), we all die.
Until we know more, I wish people would stop pretending they know what's happening. We have a couple theories, thats it, no proof. (correct me if I'm wrong)
As inviting as it is to prove my point by giving a long list of things I did that I shouldn't have, I'm going to have to leave you without. I don't really want to attach such a list to myself, and posting as an AC would be pretty obvious at this point:)
Weird, I should look up how common this is. My 3rd gen ipod is the most rugged mp3 player I've ever owned (Creative Nomad Jukebox, Nomad II (2 of them), Diamond Rio (2 of them), some early LG 16mb flash based one), by the metric of it hasn't broken yet. Its been about 3 years now, and none of my others lasted more than 1, with the exception of the Jukebox which I think lasted about 2. As an aside, all of these are warranty exchanges from my first Rio. Go old-style futureshop warranty.
If he sneaks out its because he doesn't feel like he can do things he should ligitimately be allowed to do, and that you don't trust him.
Really? I snuck out becuase I wanted to do things I shouldn't have been allowed to do. Sounds like you had hella sterile life if you only ever did things parents [should have] let you do.
Seriously though, with opera 9 finally out, who cares about firefox. Opera is wayy faster in linux. If only it had extensions like firefox, it'd be perfect.
Actually if one looks for said documentation rather than assuming it exists, one may be surprised. Also, don't get confused about long term effects. Smoking pot has never been shown to make someone less smart, but being high prevents one from learning properly. Generally the problem with the stupid potheads is the fact they do it when they should be rememebring/learning things, rather than doing it say, while kicking back and watching some TV in the evening.
And if anyone is planning on responding to this with some US gov't funded 'war on drug users' propaganda, go find some accurate sources.
I agree, I was more poking fun that trying to give an accurate picture. It is true it does cause an increased risk of cancer, if smoked, but not quite as much as tobacco (pot has no nicorine which is a carcinogen). And I agree, there is this frightening idea that driving while high is somehow ok. That is just fucking lunacy, if you arent sober, dont drive. As for the allergic reaction, I don't see how that is in any way related. This friend could have just as likely been allergic to parsnip.
I thank you for your response though, with all these flaming 'war on drug users' supporters, I can sometimes fall prey to their tactics and forget all the facts.
Annual causes of death in the US:
Tobacco 435,000
Alcohol 85,000
Sexual Behaviors 20,000
Marijuana 0
Well it may be debatable, but I think its a pointless debate. I know more people do these other things than smoke pot, but let's multiply the pot number by five trillion to make up for the difference. Oh look, pot is still safer than sex.

As someone who recently graduated high school in Canada, I agree. If I am told to guess and check to solve a math problem one more time, I'm going to fucking rip someone a new ass. Luckily they only made us do it occasionally, and soon thereafter gave us the real methods, but its still frustrating as hell.
I've noticed this is an interesting distinction between the US and Canada. Up here, it seems to be slanted the other way. And most people I've discussed it with agree that violence is way more offensive.

agreed. This is why I'd prefer to buy the show direct, screw the networks. Distribution can be over the internet. I doubt this would be any more expensive than what we have now.

Thats a dangerous line though. If I were to decide to watch CSI for some reason, I don't think it would be for a several minute informercial by one of the actors about how great Mr Clean is. Also, how does this plan work with sci-fi shows?

I guess you just keep on keepin' on, and try not to be wasteful. Oh, and keep an ear open for anyone with something new to say.

If only I had mod points and you weren't an AC.
Enh, it was just an AC, not a real person. I wouldn't worry about it.

Exactly! With everyone bitching about losing freedoms, you'd think more people would share that healthy view of yours.

What I don't understand is why anyone who isn't an engineer (P. Eng) would choose to insult those who are by using the title engineer for themselves.
