soon i wont have any electronic left that is not spying on me, jeeeze why would the government want to watch me in the privacy of my own home, is watching me scratch my ass while i walk around in my underwear - grazing for food in the kitchen that interesting???
music sales are subject to the same economic highs & lows like anything else, even more so since music and video are (should be) on the lower end of people's priorities since food, shelter, paying the bills and other more important items comes first...
if the MPAA/RIAA & music/movie industry can not figure this out then they should be going the way of the dinosaur (extinct)...
the best thing about ebay is, anyone can place bids...
the worst thing about ebay is, anyone can place bids...
considering the darker & greedier side of human nature this should be expected...
this is why i never buy anything from ebay, and do most my shopping @ brick & mortar mostly and only buy on line from reputable online retailers, it is worth the extra few bucks for peace of mind and a guarantee and/or warrenty...
the BSDs are ok...
it is MS that can not seem to secure their OS, MS been churning out vulnerable OSs & apps since the early 1990s, they had over a decade to fix it and still cant get it right (or don't want to), i predict Vista will still be another rendition of the same old thing (vulnerable kludge)...
i live in the USA, i could buy the fanciest version of MS-Vista with all the bells & whistles but i wont and simply run my own customized build of Slackware because i have hardened enough to make even the most experience hacker and/or cracker give up and look for greener pastures, i dont have to worry about viruses & other misc. malware...
the point i am making is GNU/Linux is finally getting more user base in the USA, that dreadful deal between Novell & Microsoft has a good side that GNU/Linux is being noticed by more & more people, small & medium sized business will start using GNU/Linux more, and like a snowball rolling down hill it will get bigger & bigger as more people see the benefits that GNU/Linux has to offer.
this is nothing new, it has been going on since before Win95, and when the hell is microsoft and the consumers of their products going to get a clue!!!
hey, it is not perfect. but it is a good start and the sooner we cut our dependence on fossil fuels the better, if not completely weened of fossil fuels then hopefully greatly lower our dependence...
maybe even give the US consumer the power to tell oil imports "no thanks" we have enough domestic oil, and make giant corps like Exxon sweat...
isnt microsoft's deal with novell just microsoft cybersquatting on Linux's IP???
just an extreme thought...
i would not use MS-Windows even if MS gave it away as Freeware...
i rather run my pirated copy of Linux...
the most evil way possible, but it will just render it as a windows only niche...

along with freedom of speech comes being responsible with what an individual says, why do people forget this simple rule...
i can get a big screen television that sticks to the wall like a large poster or glued on like wallpaper...

get a volt meter and check for voltages between a chassi screw and earth ground, it will most likely be DC current...

you need to learn to use Slackware, it is the best distro for old hardware...

that counts me out, i am over 40 and as ugly as a mud fence...
hey! i was going to say that! :)
fish guts, its whats for dinner :)
ever hear of "probable cause"?
_if it walks like a duck...
true...
oh! the irony...

popups, spyware, viruses, trojans & worms are all part of the microsoft windows experience...
they blame everything but the vulnerable system that propagate this kludge...
With your wallets that is, I have not bought a single music CD or movie in many years. I wish more would follow suit...

RE: ["Now on the GUI front.. I think there are many other editors I would use instead... but to each their own."]
Nedit is a nice little GUI text editor, has excellent syntax highlighting in many languages.
http://www.nedit.org/ (it should also be available at sourceforge too)
Midnight Commander (works great in both CLI & GUI)
same here, picking suse over microsoft now (after the deal with the devil) is like saying we are switching from Ford automobiles to Mercury...
