i was planning on buying a Ford 1 ton dually with the Powerstroke Diesel, this has changed my plans. i refuse to buy anything with Microsoft software in it, unless a GNU/Linux developer comes up with software to over-write the kludge Ford & MS puts in Ford's product...
i been a shortwave lister for over 20 years with a high quality R.L. Drake, i listened to number stations and after listening to them for a moment i spun the dial in search of something more interesting...
i miss the weekend evenings of listening to Pirate radio - Captain Eddie & his Radio Airplane, Dr. Tornado and Joe Mamma, frequencies like 7385KHz & 6955KHz have not had any good listening lately, i sure wish i knew of some other frequencies to monitor because dialing thru 30 megahertz of bandwidth is just too much to search thru in a single evening...
even if a planet was found that could support life we will never be able to get there, at least not until "Faster than light-speed" space travel is possible, will i highly doubt will ever happen...
Novell's screwup will have no effect on the rest of the distros, software that is GNU/GPL will always remain GNU/GPL...
the more insightful users of Novell/SuSE will jump ship to another distro, while Novell will soon lose marketshare by a good percentage and will become obsolete or a fringe with just a few hard core fanboys slowly becomeing a smaller & smaller circle, basically Novell commited GNU/Suicide if they dont reverse this thing quickly (within the next few days)...
I been using Linux exclusively for several years, I have no college degree, no professional training in computers or anything like that, my first PC was a 400MHz Gateway that had win98 on it, I bought it because I was making lots of good money back in the late 1990s so I bought it after seeing a TV commercial, I thought computers were the coolest thing in the world and wanted to learn all I can about it, eventually I heard of Linux on a website and was slightly curious. it took a while to get proficient on Linux to abandon Windows, by the time Win2k was released I could have dumped Windows but I kept win98 & redhat-7.1 dual booting, eventually redhat-7.3 was released and I did not like it all that much and switched to Slackware (been a happy slacker ever since) I never owned WinXP and only sat in front of a XP box a few times at my brother's house and girl friend had XP too, both XP boxes were slow and buggy and it was enough to convince me I made the right decision in choosing Linux and abandoning Windows...
I succeeded NOT because i am a genius or smarter than average, but because I refused to give up on Linux, And because I love the FOSS philosophy...
if electronic voting is going to be implemented then both the hardware and software should be Open-Source so it can be reviewed and checked for backdoors/rootkits malware & other misc. Vulnerabilities by non-partisan & impartial third parties, anything less is untrustworthy, the Voting process is too important to not be scrutinized...
Microsoft Window's track record of vulnerabilities going all the way back to their beginnings are a great resource for predicting the quality and poor security of Microsoft's next product release (Vista). and i agree with the grand-parent's post that it is plausible that this Defender could easily be corrupted or infected to do bad things (deleting system files, or any other data...
the Republicans should hire Democrats to write political speeches and jokes, the police should hire crimminals as officers to patrol the streets, and arsonists should be working for the fire department, heck i say we let iran and north korea develop our weapons system's software [/sarcasm]
considering all the advertising Yahoo, Google, and any other advertising agency that uses the internet, plus all the advertising that gets spewed on Television and Radio, billboards on the side of the road, and all other advertising i missed mentioning, microsoft is just another pig in the poke looking to shove its hungry snout in to the swill...

mplayerplug-in works great in both firefox-1.5 and 2.0 but i have noticed if you switch distros or upgrade things like libpng or other critical system files then mplayerplug-in will get quirks or sometimes totally crash or refuse to work. i suggest you delete the existing plugins and recompile mplayerplug-in withe the gecko-sdk

i think if this does not get resolved then Linus & Co, should copy the existing GNU tools and fork it, then Stallman & Co. better either copy a Linux kernel and fork it or start polishing Hurd...
i would make annual donations to important GNU/Linux projects like the Linux kernel, xorg, alsa, && etc...etc...
:)
until that happens i will keep working my loser deadend job to keep from being homeless & starving

lol = like over TEN years too late, MS and all their customers plainly seen a need for that back when WindowsNT-3.5 Windows-95 was still current...
