why are the mods in such a rotten mood this morning ? Everything is modded off-topic... the parent deserves informative or interesting because of that link.
Just took the colour test and here is the assessment of my personality..
"Unwilling to extend himself or exert undue effort (with the possible exception of sexual activity). Feels that further progress requires more from him than he is willing or able to give. Would prefer reasonable comfort and security rather than the rewards of greater ambition."
That reads like a horoscope.. besides that, it couldn't be further from the truth.
The value in a photograph of that sculpture is in the photograph itself, not the sculpture. The photograph is a work created by me. The sculpture is his to do what he wants with, sell it to the city, licence it to a museum, he is free to do so.
Anybody can take a picture of a sunset or the brooklyn bridge, whip out a cellphone digicam and shoot. It's easy but it looks like shit. On the other hand the professional photographer will employ sophisticated photography techniques and invest time & money into creating a beautiful picture that he'll be able to sell. The creator of the sculpture has no say or influence in this creative process, they can bugger off.
GooCal not very responsive right now :-|

I logged on this morning and created a new calendar, made a few screenshots here. Looks nice, didn't see much in the way of gmail integration but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.
I'm not a member or involved in the freenet project but if you have paypal or whatever, drop by the freenet project website and donate a few dollars. Mathew Toseland (toad_ on freenode irc) has been slaving away on the project for a long time now, he's poured so much energy into making freenet a reality, kudos to him and a few of the other coders that have spent a lot of energy on the next generation freenet (nextgens/cyberdo/etc.)
Not related to freenet but in the definitely in the same sphere of anonymous networking is I2P. For anybody that interested in that kind of technology should check that out... it's a fairly well functioning network ATM but the main coder is putting off any big announcements until he's sure it's ready.
You can get around this problem by running the traffic conditioner script from the Routing-Howto cookbook section. Even with sacrificing a bit of download speed I've been using it with great success for the last year or so (upstream bandwidth never fails to max out even if I'm downloading at 350KBytes/sec.)
Are theatre owners across the nation members of a union of some sort? Or an association that collectively negotiates with the movie studios? I'd love to see these guys shut down their theatres for a few weeks just before a few big blockbusters are set to be released.
I hope so, check out Ben Maurer's latest blog entry, near the bottom he talks a bit about this. Actually, the latest entry is quite informative about the new memory mapping features in the latest kernel.
Why their elected officials have such a hard-on for filtering the net? Every story on/. about.AU is related to this subject, in one way or another. Are your politicians as intrusive as this in other aspects of your life... can you buy dirty magazines from a store? you buy porno tapes right? I always thought you guys were a bit more liberal and easy-going than what the news makes you out to be..
Good thing we have the Bush administration to help us with these ultra liberal television networks. Next thing you know gays will be marrying giraffes and marriage will be worthless. Shame on them.
But many states have laws saying that a vote recount can _only_ be done if the votes are within 1-2 percentage points. So they can rig the machines to make sure it's 3 or 4% in their candidates favour and any recount would be illegal.. and your paper receipt is hopelessly lost in the void.
Canadian security is only at risk because of all the people we piss off. I don't blame the Canadians for not spending ungodly amounts of their governments money on a giant war machine, it's not their fight, they didn't start it... We did.

Have the DRM schemes on either blu-ray or HD-DVD been cracked yet?

or use the WonderShaper script, probably a lot easier than wading through the docs. Although I haven't used this...

Are the brits trying to compare us to the Cylons? I might remind them that Tricia Helfer is Canadian. Fucking eh!
Now it's being used in child porn cases as well. This should come as no surprise to anybody that lived through the 80's. Back then the politicians promised us that RECO legislation was only aimed at the Drug King-Pins and international cartels.......

Because GooCal will obsolete all other calendars!
