How Xbox owners get constantly shafted by Microsoft, yet come back time and time again for more, and religiously defend the console, dispite it's failings.
At best, you MAY get as good a picture on Component depending on your setup, but if you want the guarenteed best picture your setup is capable of, HDMI is the way to go..
You know it's funny, those that say you don't need HDMI, are those that can't have it..
I have seen the difference between HDMI and Component on my 42in Panasonic PX60 Plasma, it's a considerable improvement. Perhaps you don't need it on a 28in el-cheapo TV, but on a decent display HDMI is essential. 30 year old component ananlog interconnect technology is simply not cut out for it, and the D-A and A-D stages required for analog component does nothing but introduce unnecessary processing.
Still back on topic, it's nice to see Microsoft trying to play catchup to the PS3, it's a shame they dumped on 9.5 million existing owners in the process.
Only a Microsoft Xbox programmed fanboy would care.. It's worth noting that Microsoft only quote shipped numbers for 360 sales, which is why there is a difference of a million units between what Microsoft say (10.5) and what retail counts say (9.5)..
People will see the 360 and PS3 versions of upcoming multi-platform titles and wonder "hey, why does my Wii version not look like that"... Within weeks, ebay will be flooded with 2nd user Wii's
Or you could otherwise argue, that Sony sold more PS3's that Microsoft despite only having launched in 1/3rd of it's market. Now that it's going full guns in almost all regions (I believe there are still some minor regions not launched), any gaps between 360/WII who have launched globally long ago will start to shrink...
Seriously don't enforce the sterotype that paddys are thick..
Selling out of a console DOES NOT MEAN IT'S SUCCESSFULL. It simply means Nintendo can't make them.. Without any knowledge of how many units your friend actually sells, any other statement is pure fanboy nonsense.
If PS shifted 8,000 of it's 10,000 units in Eire, yet Nintendo have sold 5,000, but deliver a couple of a week, resulting in empty shelves, some naieve people might think the WII is more desirable, but the PS3 is actually more sucessfull and desireable..
Come on work it out, your being conned by a age-old console launch trick.
Hah, your comments are getting more fanboyish as you speak.
Even in North America, PS3 is still tricky to get ahold of...
Even Microsoft fanboys Paul Thurrot says so..
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/ps3.asp
"Availability, as I write this, is still an issue: The console has yet to ship in Europe and other major markets, and in the US, finding a PS3 is like winning the lottery: You have to be really lucky, and in the right place at the right time, "
Still I suppose Microsoft ARE paying you for your viral marketting, I doubt you would do it for free...
Not true, Microsoft will replace your 360 within a year of purchase, but as soon as the 12 months is up, regardless of how many replacements you have had, your SOL...
Personaly, I would rather pay £100 more for something faster, quieter, better built and most importantly reliable...
Look at the junk of junk 360, with it's 1 in 3 failure rate, and jumbo taking off in your living room noise levels.. it's obvious it was designed in a rush and thrown together in a sweatshop in mexico or eastern Europe...
They use the "Cell Difficult To Program For" argument, yet when you have PS3 launch titles looking on-par with 2nd generation 360 titles, fail to understand the ramifications of this statement, as if this is true, current PS3 games are merely scratching the surface of what it's capable of...
If the 360 is easy to program for, yet the PS3 tricky, then the 360's technical "wall" will be reached much sooner than the PS3, which will continue to improve over a longer period. Infact, if the 360 is as easy as some suggestion, then perhaps that wall has already been reached, and games will not get much better that GearsOfWar. Still they always have the storage space to add more content/better textures etc.. Ooops, hang on, scrub that, they don't have that at all (that's why Gears Of War is a mere 5 hours of gameplay on a full DVD9).
Your obviously an idiot, so I will explain. Skynet UK satellite has been in operation in various revisions since 1968. MANY years for Terminator films...
Or perhaps it SEEMS expnsive in the US, as their economy is in such poor shape at the moment..
Either way $500 is not that expensive in the sale of things, and you get kick-ass hardware..
I suppose if you want to waste $300 on the unreliable and basic hunk of junk that the 360 is, then fine, but if you want quality, it does not come for free.
$500 is particulay expensive, when you look at what you are getting. Heck my car costs $300 for a service, for a can of oil, some plugs and a few filters..
PS2 cost $300 when it launched in 2000, factor in inflation it's $350 in todays money. Even factoring in the technology leap between 2000 and 2006, PS3 is considerably more advanced that PS2, for example DVD had at least a foothold in 2000, HD formats are still very new, and even the $500 basic model is still got a huge amount of tech in it. That technology leap is costing you $150.
Which bit? The bit where initial compatability is lower, by a still unknown amount? Or the upscaling of PS2 and PS1 titles to HD, and ability to do FSAA on them?
If Sony can get 60%, I don't think anyone will be too bothered, and if the strong rumours of HD and FSAA are true, people will forget this weeks news very quickly..
I find it pretty funny the lame excuses Microsoft's army of fanboys are making for the consoles very poor relibility...
There is a poll here:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=43 63999#post4363999
Showing 50% of 360 owners are on at least their 2nd console... Yet Microsoft continue to lie, and say failure rates are within industry standards...
OK, perhaps you skipped school when you were younger, or perhaps your just thick.
Without any knowledge of how many units said retailer is allocated, how on earth can you tell? We know WII shipments in the UK are low, and we also know PS3 pre-order allocation is in the region of 250,000 units.
Blame our goverment, they have added 17.5% to the price, and also sting Sony on import duties.
With all these taken into account, PS3 is the same price in the UK, as it is in US.
In addition, it's looking like software emulation may be a better route anyway, that provides 720p upscaling for PS1 and PS2 games, and FSAA. The compatability may be hit initally, but if/when it gets to the standard of the US/Jap consoles, the EU consoles would be better due to the reasons mentioned... (although I suspect when it gets to this state, the US/JAP consoles will also be switched to software emulation also).
How Xbox owners get constantly shafted by Microsoft, yet come back time and time again for more, and religiously defend the console, dispite it's failings.
LOL, the Zune 180 is based on the Sony Erricsson Walkman phone.. Sony connecting to the 360.. Nice.. I bet the Sony haters here will love that..
Just get a PS3, did I mention it supports USB and Bluetooth keyboards a mice....
Well on a reasonably high end Plasma (Panasonic TH-42PX60), HDMI looks far superior to Component from my PS3 when playing Blu-Ray and games.
but HMDI does seem consistent.
At best, you MAY get as good a picture on Component depending on your setup, but if you want the guarenteed best picture your setup is capable of, HDMI is the way to go..
"Myself, I'm more miffed at the stupidly high price of the 120gb Hard Drive. "
How many more times will Microsoft have to screw you over before you work it out?
You know it's funny, those that say you don't need HDMI, are those that can't have it..

I like how the Xbox fanboys want it both ways.

Hey, I could advertise a 360 console repair buisness on there, given the horrendous reliability of the 360.. .LOL...
Exactly how much more powerful? 10% is the numbers I have seen.. Small overclock of a 486...
