Seems that GSX Server does everything VMWare Workstation does, so why would anyone buy VMware Workstation, when GSX Server is free?
Don't quite understand that bit...
I just wish my Sony Vaio came with this. I had NO recovery or install media. It prompted me to insert blank DVD's and write my own disks. It meant I had all the Norton bloatware, and other trial crap pre-installed in my system image, with no way to remove it (Norton's out of th box uninstall on the Vaio comes up with a error).
Great huh?
We arn't talking recovery disks here, as they include all the crap people are desperate to ditch, like 30 day eval versions of Norton SystemCrawl 2005. WE ARE TALKING MS INSTALL MEDIA.
Because they (and increasing numbers of other vendors) don't give you install media.
As a side note, Can they call it XP Home or XP Professional, if it's not? what you actually get is XPHome including Norton SystemCrawl 2005, minus install media.
Seems a large amount of money is changing hands regarding deals to preinstall certain software.
My recent purchase of a Sony Vaio FS-295XP, the pre-installed software was a joke, it made the system VERY sluggish, most of it would not uninstall fully (or in the case of "Norton SystemCrawl 2005", would not uninstall at all), and large amounts of it were trial-ware, which expired. The rest was totally surplus to requirements.
I would have formatted and re-installed XP PRo from scratch, but Sony decided for me, that I should not be entitled to a copy of the XP Pro media.
I would have not bothered with the Vaio, but all manufacturers are just as bad as each other.
I wish they would also. It may lower my licence fee and/or increase the quality of programs (although the BBC already has the best programming in the world IMHO).
We pay good money for the BBC, it's not funded by advertisers like most other television.
Why should I pay my TV licence, so people around the world can download the content for free? BBC should make the content free for UK licencepayers, and chargeable for everyone else...
I had disk corruption on pretty much all filesystem types, Nothing is totally infallable.
NTFS, EXT3, ReiserFS are pretty darn robust.
My problem, was with the comment lumping FAT and NTFS in the same bag. Nothing could be further from the truth. Some people simply assume, if it's Microsoft, it's cr@p
I can understand that comment with regard to FAT. But please tell us Why NTFS is lossy? It's a journelling filesystem, as is EXT3, supports all the features that EXT3 does (and provide more).
Technically you could argue that because NTFS5 supports encrpyion, you could encrypt data and forget the password, but that's the only thing I can see that makes it's any less lossy that EXT3.
Or perhaps your just a *nix fanboy that likes to bash Microsoft...
Bahhhahha, touchscreen for gaming...
Did someone mention afterthought?
oh, and anyone that only gets 2 hours out of their PSP's battery has a faulty unit or battery. Mine lasts 6 hours (3.5 with the Wifi on).
Orange UK, don't give two hoots that I constantly get companies phoning and texting me with "unmissable mobile phone upgrade offers".
Most of these companies even pretend they are in some way asscioated with Orange, which makes it even worse..
Unfortunatly, if you want Next-Generation hardware in your console, it's gonna cost.
Personally, PS3 is still a very attractive proposition, compared to the disappointing spec of the XBox-360, which is looking very current generation now, and very Last Generation when the PS3 launches...
To answer the question, "Does PS3 need 50Gb of removable storage?", yes, to full support HD displays, you need high defination storage.
OK, I'll return the troll.
Why not avoid the IPod for it's crap SNR, crap battery life, and crap audio format support compared to the Creative devices.
Bad move. Developers will have to code for the lowest common dominator, the XBox basic, as they are interested in selling to the largest market possible. The result of this, is that games are crippled for the lesser system, and not taking advantage of the premium models HDD.
The best thing Sony could do, would be to make HDD standard on ALL PS3's from the word go. Developers could then be assured all PS3 have HDD storage, and code their games to take advantage of this.
This bad decision, and the decision to go with the inferior DVD-HD format could be the nail in the coffin for XBox360 before it's even born..
if you buy a x-box 315.5 Alpha1 at launch, it will be obsolete in 6 months, when xBox339Beta2 is released, which in turn will be obsolete when XBox360 is finally launched.
Along with this, all xbox games will either only be coded for the lowest common demonator (ie. XBox 315.5 Alpha1), or will only work on the latest (XBox360).
Surely Sony created this problem, by delaying the EU launch of the PSP. If they had launched earlier then the problem would not exist.
There obviously ARE PSP's surplus, as Lik-Sang can get ahold of plentiful supplies.
Hopefully the judge of this case will see the obvious..

Then you obviously have a hardware problem. Any filesytem would give you similar problems.

be spending money on frivilous ideas like going to the moon, when there are still starving people in this world? This sucks.
Did I ever start, more like. Online gambling is for mugs. Would your really trust the results not to be fixed?

Are you suggesting that regular content and HD content require the same amount of storage space?

That's what flaming is about. 1 sided views are compulsary...

Cisco is nowhere near big enough to buy out Nokia. What is more likely, is a Sony-Erricsson arrangement...
