Although Kevin's reply states that they will no longer delete stories or comments containing the code, this does nothing to reinstate the masses of banned users. Also, it doesn't explain why they were deleting comments and stories that only discussed the censorship and had nothing to do with the number. I saw comments simply explaining copyright law deleted only a few minutes after being posted.

Although this "reply" is acknowledgment of the problem, it is quite clear that this commitment is specific to this incident: if something similar happens again, they will do the same thing. To me, this means that they spoke to a lawyer, were told what everyone has been saying from the beginning (you cannot copyright a number) and tried to make it sound like they are being nice.

I play CS:S with no problems at all, and I have a Nf4 and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+. However, I did have problems playing CS 1.6 online, the game would go too fast, then lag to "catch up". To fix this, I simply had to install the AMD drivers and all my problems were solved :) So have you installed the CPU drivers?

Actually, about 6 months ago I had a B&E at my place. They took my computer, which I also used for development work.
Now, I had been having problems with my IP changing an awful lot, so I set up a program to automagically register the DNS to me. I also had auto-login set up, as well as an auto-login for MSN/AIM/ICQ/IRC. So when my computer was stolen, I figured that they would plug it in to try it out, and then I would have them.

Problem was, they never did. As I said, it has been 6 months, and not once did any of that happened. Either they never plugged it in without formatting, or they did but not internet (which makes sense, who would plug a newly stolen computer into the internet?). The same thing applies to wireless. AFAIK, you have to set up the wireless in some way, even if it's just hitting ok or something, before it works. So, while it sounds great in theory, and I really wish it would work in practice, it obviously doesn't.

(If anyone's interested, I then used the insurance money to upgrade to a WAY better PC... mixed blessing :) )

  16. Re:Says You on Intel Makes 45nm Chip · · Score: 0

I myself have begun thinking of Intel as a laptop cpu only. This is the only area that I can see them having any advantage really. Some may argue that because of their lower price point and brand recognition they will make it into the desktop market, but I know that I (and a huge margin of serious PC users out there) will recommend AMD, and eventually we will make an impact. If you ask me, the 70% that Intel holds is from users having no idea what they are getting, and just buying what looks good for the price (or by what the guy at the store said - he knows everything right?) or perhaps by the clock speed (which we all know doesn't really play a factor anymore). My personal view is that Intel will dominate as a Latptop/Mobile chip (which it should be happy with - this market segment is going to be huge - it is already actually...), and AMD will take over at LEAST all high end desktops and servers, if not all desktop levels.

    Just my 2 cents :)

I had a summer job this past summer at a small office which used Office documents quite heavily. I decided to just use OOo, but ran into several problems with compatibility. Complex tables and formatting tended to mess up all the time, and even simple tables messed up sometimes. This became a major problem because people would send me a document that was done for one purpose, and tell me to modify it for another. What I ended up doing was VNCing to my PC and editing it there, but it could have been much simpler. Before the switch gets easier, the people over at OOo need to work on the opening of and saving of Microsoft Office documents, even if it is really ugly stuff.

It is not your usual porn that is referred to here. The type of porn in question is the hardcore demeananizing porn that the porn industry seems to have led to. As is described, online porn seems to lead from soft to hard core porn, and it is the rape and bukkake that damage relationships. This also brings up another side in the viewer, as I won't watch anal, nor anything worse than that, while others may enjoy the rape or bukkake that plagues the internet.
