yeah but they also painted a propaganda piece against kerry as "news".
Sinclair is a republican run broadcasting company that openly broke election law in an election week. Comparing opposition to an illegal and misleading broadcast to the partisan removal of people from a committee which is not political at all, shows a lack of understanding or a clear bias political slant.
"One might imagine this will have a very chilling effect on non-corporate political donations in the next election."
only if your donating to democrats... i cant see how donating to republicans could hurt you, since i doubt the dems would be able to get away with such open partisan corruption.
I would assume that after the 29th all the computers recieved at stores/retaillers will have tiger pre-installed, however already shipped computers will not (ones in stock before the 29th)-- as no one likes to buy a computer that has been opened already, even if only to upgrade it. But then who knows.
Im glad the fine people at microsoft have decided to change their long standing policy and start making stuff that works. What a 180... i wonder if they are gonna remove their copyright on:
yeah but he was 23 not 40, and if he did nothing illegal what does it matter? I think the earlier comment stating that if he never asked for sex or anything before her age of consent, he did nothing unlawful, if he did nothing unlawful, why should his job be relevant in the matter. to be honest if he did nothing unlawful, he shouldnt not be fired (unless he somehow did not fufill his duties otherwise), even if the whole issue is somewhat controvercial... theres nothing wrong with him meeting this girl... unless he solicited her before the age of consent.
I just think its interesting after months of microsoft distancing itself from the existance of Longhorn (seeing as they are too busy working on XP) they release a preview the same week as tigers release? Very odd. I believe this may be some behind the scenes maneurving to remind people a new windows is in the work and not to switch now. just my two cents.
hey moderator, thanks for giving me "troll" for responding to what the guy said... dont worry about rating this, i wont post anymore. this is getting so dumb.
Id rather pay less for the device (as most ipods are less in cost than competitors with same storage) and have the device do what its intended for perfectly (aka play music) and then get devices to add on to do those things perfect later if i so choose (like voice recording).
Its those dam early technology multi-function devices that i hate. Take early multi-function printer copiers/scanners for example, they didnt print too well, and they didnt copy or scan very well. Most non-apple mp3 players are the same, not great music players do to small buttons, lack of high bitrate compliency and poor software... but with additional features, like voice recording (which tends to be poor to decent quality) or whatever.
Still to the basics. It must be a great music player first, everything else is just a nice surprise on top.
Apple is just really on the ball with this one... actually with most of their stuff. Im glad they are finally back in the lime-light of high quality, esspecially among the techies it seems now a days.
"Just last week we were all ment to assume that Dell (oops, I mean Intel) wasn't ready to ship dual core until Q1 of next year..."
dell, intel.. oh whats the difference anymore? They are pretty much the same overpriced for what you get and annoying.
They should just merge and become deltel (del-tel)... mmm or maybe intell (int-ell) wait-- isnt that--- bleh nm...
In short, to summerize this post which will clearly be +0, offtopic. Dell and Intel both suck and intels processors need more than improvements, they need price cuts before i will consider them over AMD (and their dual should be out shortly).
ive been inside apple and i can tell you EVERYONE signs a non-disclosure contract. everyone from the assosciates in the stores, the guys at R&D and contractors, EVERYONE with inside info.
are they seriously saying that the leaking of product information (against a contract) is the same thing as being a whistle blower against illegal actions by companies like worldcom. this is completely backwards. The bloggers are losing because they are incouraging people to break the law, for no public good or safety reason.
If it was okay to break these agreements for no good reason i wonder if it would be okay if say a rep. from lockeed martin could leak info about a weapons program, its against his contract, but what the hell, those contracts dont matter... this is journalism! Sorry journalism does have a limit. Im all for whistle blowers, but thats why they have laws to protect them, these guys are NOT whistle blowers (check the definition if you dont believe me).
Each display costs $3000 -- but dont forget the...
video card (approx $500) tax ($150-500 est.) Desktop space (4 feet gone)
On the plus side, youll be the envy of all the geeks on the block, aside from the crazy windows one that hates apple (despite having never tried one except for a quick second only to find it different than windows and therefore unacceptable).
holy crap... i just bought one of those yesterday, in hopes of cooling the system and in turn reducing noise (besides 60mm make a ton of noise anyway)... what luck to know its worth getting, i wasnt sure.
Mike
i got it at comp usa... where to my shock... the price was reasonable.
yeah mine did that too... craziest thing, it would just turn off when playing games in the middle of all the action. VERY annoying. So i took the processor, along with the box, instruction manual and packets of some "thermal paste" (whatever that is) and chucked them all out the window. Im never buying another AMD, no matter how much cheaper and faster it is than Intel Pentium 4 (with patented superior extreme hyperthreading technology)
This had got to be the dozen'th time ive heard this. Dell is likely just trying to get intels attention as to aquire better pricing, lisencing or products. In any event Dell said "if their customers demand it". I ask, how are dell customers gonna demand it, dell customers usually cant even get through for tech support let alone calling to make casual recommendations. Besides most dell customers arnt technie enough to even understand what a processor is let alone what company produces it.
I still have people come in and demand the whole tower is a modem. people just dont get it, and if this user friendly, point and click world we live in is too confusing, they never will.
if the gold is anything like the beta (and it is, since im talking about the beta from last month) this OS should be well worth using! (in about a year.)
i personally recieved great respect from end users (teachers, as it was a school district)... the people i was helping.
It was the administration that was the problem. Asshole principals who cant tolerate something (the computers) not being under their direct jurisdiction, preferring to treat technicians more like students than co-workers.
To make matters worse our tech director knew nothing about technology, and wouldnt listen to technicians, he listened to those same principals... as we were beneathe him i guess. "We are gonna buy 200 $600 complete dell systems" technicians: "uhhh those systems seem pretty flawed and vunerable to blah blah"... next thing we know we need to devote a room as a computer graveyard for parts... heh.
To save this post from being completely tangential ill say, i believe end users were very respectful, understanding the useful nature of a tech staff... Those higher up in administration however tended to be fearful of those with authority or knowledge (i assume this is probably pretty common in a buearocracy though).
its 2005 can we get nothing better? 1 minute charge is fine... but what about say a battery that lasts 300 hours rather than 3? then recharging wouldnt matter much anyway. Why not batteries that could generate there own power? come on people, think of something... haveing a 5 hour charge on my laptop sucks (and this is good compared to most laptops out there).
I dont wanna wait till apple figures out a 100+ hour battery for an ipod, cant some great company figure something out... come on HP, invent. Dell, dude improve your crap. etc!
isnt tiger direct sueing apple over the "tiger" name -- or did you know that?
yeah but they also painted a propaganda piece against kerry as "news".

Tis the way it should be.

this is an ipod killer for sure!! ... just like last month... and the month before.
maybe they should just specialize in ipod killers rather than mp3 players. Darn, except i guess they arnt any good at that either.

just what we need, windows having control over large thousand-ton moving pieces of steel....
:-)
whats the worst that can happen, maybe the trains freeze or uhhh, crash?... erm, no pun intended... okay maybe it was slightly intentional

your implying that /.ers already buy from best buy... you silly silly person
if i wanted to pay retail +10% +Tax or more, id go to comp usa and get a properly price screwed.
WOW.
best buy hits an even newer and lower low.
and they blame "demon" customers... sigh.
i hate when people who dont understand technology are charged with making laws and regulations regarding it.
Seriously, after the DMCA youd think these guys (congress) would learn to stick with what they are good at... whatever that is.

Tech industry is moving slowly?!?
Dear god, i wonder how many new ipods are released per quarter when things start picking up.
